*Beep beep beep* I wake up to my annoying alarm clock. I rub sleep from my eyes and slide my slippers on along with my dressing gown. I walk out of my room out to the kitchen downstairs.
"Goodmorning darling!" My mum said as she smiled.
*Yawn* "Hey mum! What's for brekkie?" I say.
"Bacon and eggs!"
"Awesome!"
After my brief conversation with my mum, I slowly walk into the lounge room and turn on the tv. The television turns blue and says the name of the company who made it. I change the channel to number 5 and I find myself watching the news. Headlines are all over the screen, i read the flashing writing. "Chinese herding locals to the nearby amusement park in Townsville" I read aloud. Wait, WHAT? I read it again and again. My mind isn't tricking me, it's real.
"Mum! Grab all your precious things and throw them in the car! QUICK" I literally scream my heart out at my mother crying.
"Why?" My mum asks confused.
"JUST DO IT I'LL EXPLAIN IN THE CAR!"
Mum doesn't ask anything more, she is all ready sprinting down the hall grabbing all her precious things, so am I. I grab my phone, iPad, computer, purse and some other things. I throw them all in my bag and I run to the car with my keys. Mum sprints outside the door and jumps into the car. I start driving.
"WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?" My mum is screaming worried and confused.
"Oh nothing much, the Chinese just invaded friggin Queensland!" I yell in sarcasm.
"W-what?"
"China is invading Queensland, the other ships and planes are probably going to attack NSW soon!"
"Where do we go?"
All is silent
"Away from here..."
I drive to a local KFC and grab heaps of food. There is also a supermarket so I grab fresh produce and some other things. It was all free because everyone is evacuating, so breaking the law isn't of my concern in the middle of the war. I drive along the main road a little further and I find a petrol station. I fill up my car and drive towards the harbour. Mum spots a lot of people boarding a boat. I drive flat out to there and look.
"Honey be careful! They could be the Chinese!" Mum says with a serious face.
"They are like us, they are trying to escape" I say as I speed down to the docks. We get out and run to the boat the man is screaming for everyone to get on the boat fast, we are leaving in 10 minutes.
The ship happened to be a fast cruise, 10x faster than a normal cruise. We swiftly run up the elevators inside to reach the top decks, here was pools, bars and some other things too. We walk into the cafè and down the middle stairs, to the next level down. We reach a floor with hundreds of rooms. We pick one and walk in, it's a room with a veranda and one double bed.
"I'll sort everything, you just go on the top deck and listen for alarms and messages from the captain" My mum says nervously
"Fine" I say back.
I run up the middle stairs and I swiftly turn the corner and arrive at the café. I find my way to the outside area and look over the deck. The water is calmly flowing along the sides, no signs of the Chinese yet. I go to sit down on a pool chair but, some tall figure blocks me.
"Oh sorry!" The talk dark figure seems to be a girl.
"Oh it's ok!" I say back.
"My name is Katie by the way" Katie says
"My name is Hope if you wanted to know" I say back.
"Well nice to meet ya Hope"
After that we sit down on our pool chairs and just talk about things, nothing much. Our boat has already started speeding away out of the harbour.Apparently we are heading to the U.S.A and arriving in Los Angeles. I say bye to Katie and head back to my room.
"Hey mum" I say as I walk in the door.
"Hello Hope" mum says back.
"So what's been happenin'?
"Nothing much, just unpacked some things"
"Ok"
I grab my phone and decide to watch youtube, I've saved heaps of videos so I could watch them on holidays. But this was not the holiday I was thinking, not at all.
