"It's not Kim Bok Jin! My name is Kim Seok Jin, you jerks!" Seokjin yelled for the nth time in his twenty-four years of existence, watching his wayward schoolmates running away with a heated glare after they crashed onto him and made him drop his things, his hands now clutching at his books which were sprawled on the ground after the others used the wrong name when they apologized.
Now how did he end up in this situation? Well, Seokjin was a normal college student who just happened to have a frugal mom who taught him things that he'll be able to do himself, like cutting his own hair and cooking himself meals, so that he won't spend money carelessly. He remembered getting a lecture about observing these money-saving habits before getting sent off to college a few years back. Anyway, Seokjin just happened to cut his bangs a little too short the same time that Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo began to air.
He shouldn't have cut his hair on his twenty-eighth hour of being awake, the stress of studying for his exams influencing his mind to do this foolish act. Look at where it got him— now the name stuck and he was known to most underclassmen with the name of Kim Bok Jin. Damn it all.
"I can't believe this. How is 'Seok' even similar to 'Bok'? The teachers always made sure that people won't confuse 'eo' with 'o' when they get older— what did the teachers do wrong for the kids to become like this?" Seokjin huffed in a complaining tone, muttering to himself in irritation as he collected his things from the ground before stomping his way to class with angry steps.
Seokjin entered the class only to see everyone talking among themselves in excited whispers, eliciting confusion from him as he sat himself by his place and tucked his things inside the space below the table. "What's happening?" he turned to his side and asked his friend, Jaehwan, who smirked and shrugged in reply before speaking. "An idol boy group seems to be coming here this afternoon to perform." he put his chin on his palm, eavesdropping on the group of girls to fish for more information. Seokjin knew that there was this one boy group that caught Jaehwan's attention these days, but he can't recall what their name was.
"Really? Who?" Seokjin asked, not curiously but politely, as his phone vibrated in his coat pocket before he reached for it and read the message on the screen.
[8:29 am]
I won't be able to lock down the gym later. Can you do it instead?
[8:31 am]
Yes, sunbae.
Sighing, Seokjin slipped the phone back in his coat before his seatmate spun around in breakneck speed and slammed his palms on his desk, shocking the former to the point of shouting and holding a hand to his chest. Seokjin hit Jaehwan in the shoulder, the latter squawking and looking at him with a pout, "What was that for, Bok Jin-ah?" Jaehwan used the name purposefully, shielding himself immediately at the threatening fist of the younger. "You started it with your table slamming, you ass." Seokjin scoffed as he settled to just glaring at his friend, lowering his arm on his table, "We also talked about people calling me that— I don't like it, so stop it if you don't want to get hurt." he threatened, pulling back his lips into a sneer before allowing his friend to finally speak again.
"As I was going to say, the idol group that's coming is—" Jaehwan didn't get to finish as their professor walked past the door and greeted the students, causing Seokjin to pay attention to the teacher instead and forget about the idol group.
He never really did pay any attention to the K-Pop World— that was a dream he had to give up a long time ago.
