I smiled brilliantly, even as my blood boiled and coated my voice with a soft, excited, tone. "Oh Kayla, I'm just so happy for you!"

She beamed back at me genuinely and I was disgusted by it. I squealed with her as we discussed her new boyfriend. The one who should be, and would, be mine. I am Jenna Christine Anderson, and I never lose.

Kayla's delicate face was flushed with excitement as she talked adamantly to our circle of friends about David. David South, captain of the soccer team and way out of small Kayla's league.

I flipped my long brown hair over my shoulder and it curled beautifully at my waist.

The more Kayla talked the more I had to suppress the urge to strangle her. But it was no matter now, soon everything would click into place for me, just as it always had.

"Oh Jenna and it's all thanks to you." Kayla took a big breath and sighed it out turning to me. "If I didn't have such a wonderful friend like you I dont know where I would be right now," she said as her eyes brimmed with tears and her small arms wrapped around me.

I forced a happy smile on my face and embraced her back. "Kayla you're just so sweet," I cooed as she pulled back and I took her hand in mine, "I'm really the lucky one to have you as my friend." Bile rose in my throat with the utter lie but she would get what she deserved soon enough. I would have chaos.

I walked to my car after school and as I got in I saw Kayla walking with my man. I gasped in rage and knew what I had to do. I had to plan carefully though. Kayla was smart, but luckily no one was smarter than me.

---

I recalled the episode from a few weeks ago with Kayla and a cold smile spread across my perfect white teeth.

"Oh my god, Kayla! Why didn't you tell me?" I asked lacing my voice with false but utterly convincing concern.

Kayla flushed red and quickly covered her scar covered stomach with a shirt. "Oh Jenna, you can't tell. Please, you must promise."

"Of course, I won't tell a soul," the lie rolled off my tongue and I saved away this information for future use.

Everything is connected, everything matters, and I already know everything.

---

It was now that I could put this information to proper use.

As I pulled into my luxurious driveway that led up to the manor I spotted daddy's car and jumped out quickly.

I raced inside and called out, "Daddy, I'm home," I knew he would come momentarily.

I skipped into the kitchen and set my backpack on the table. "Gretchen, my snack please," I said addressing the old maid fondly. She was one of the few to be in my good graces.

"Do you have a preference Miss Jenna, or is it the usual?" she asked as she got out a plate.

"The usual I think," I replied, sitting down at the table.

"Pumpkin? Was that my gem that I heard?"

I squealed as Daniel Anderson walked into the room, wearing a crisp white shirt and dark navy pants. "Daddy," I called as I ran to embrace him. He accepted me into his arms with a warm smile. He was not in fact my real father but my stepfather. He had married my hag of a mother when I was only three after my biological dad had died in a car crash.

"How was your day pumpkin?" he asked as Gretchen set a plate of strawberries in front of me.

I plucked a berry from the tray and popped it in my mouth "Nothing unusual. Kayla seems down though, I'm starting to worry about her." I put on a worried face and fiddled with the strawberries.

Daddy reacted exactly how I knew he would. "I'm glad you're such a good friend, why don't you ask her over? Cheer her up. I'll take your mom out for the weekend. The house will be yours princess," he finished pecking my forehead affectionately.

I grinned widely. "Oh, thank you daddy. I knew you'd help," I said as I enthusiastically hugged him and ran from the room.

Step one.
