Z: A New Threat

The Return

A/N: Yo people, thanks for reading my previous book and giving it over 200+ reads. This is my way of thanking you by giving you a sequel to that book. Also the fact that many questions were left unanswered. So enjoy.

Jacob wakes up in the middle of the night feeling a little a thirst in his throat. As he gets up and heads towards the kitchen, he finds his mask lying on the floor. He picks it up and stares at it as though the mask was looking back at him.

Jacob: 2 months have passed since Z has been gone. It really does feel like all of that happened yesterday.

Jacob then throws his mask into the bedroom and goes to kitchen and makes himself a cup of tea. The tea was still hot, so he switched on the T.V to pass time. The news was the usual, reporters taking about Z and Red X going missing, the crime rates increasing and groups of people calling to Z to help them and chanting that his way of dealing with crime was the best way possible. As the tea cooled down a little bit, Jacob heard a knock on his door and thought who could it be at the middle of the night. Jacob placed his coffee on the table and went to answer the door. As he opened the door, at a surprise, it was Slater.

Slater: Long time no see, partner.
Jacob: No wonder I got up early, come in.
Slater: Sure... but can I know why aren't you having a shirt on.
Jacob: (looks down at himself) It gets hot at night, it becomes hotter to sleep. Come in, I'll get you some tea.

Slater enters Jacob's house and finds it really average. There is no wallpaper anywhere, no chandeliers and no house designs. It's expected from a person who lost everything. He found a couch next to the T.V and decided to sit there. He to took the remote and kept on switching the channel till Jacob came with 2 cups of tea and wearing a shirt this time. He passed on tea to Slater and sat on the couch opposite to Slater.

Slater: Looks like you healed from all of your injuries, though the scars look ugly on you.
Jacob: Hey, scars don't heal, well, as long as they are here, it reminds of the hell I went through (takes a sip from the tea).
Slater: (takes sip from tea) Anyways, do you know why I'm here?
Jacob: Is it concerning the X Project?
Slater: Good guess, here.

Slater hands a newspaper over to Jacob and as he read it, he got shocked.

Slater: Found something interesting?
Jacob: The... the X Project? But how?
Slater: Keep reading.
Jacob: (reads more) There's 4 of them?
Slater: Yes, but unlike the one we encountered, these ones are already complete. All that's left is for their President to activate it and it would create a dome like barrier around the whole Japan which would keep the whole country safe from nuclear attacks. My concern is, if this news is open to the world-
Jacob: Then why would Sector hide this from everyone?
Slater: Right, for now it seems that the people of Japan find this as a symbol of hope from their country. The Bloodline Expansion is dead, but if these projects were completed before we killed them, then I guess Sector got a trick up his sleeve.
Jacob: So what you're trying to say is that there are more people working for Sector? And their main goal is to take over Japan, just like how Sector tried to take over U.S.A?
Slater: Most likely, yes. (Gets angry) Damn that Sector! Bastard still trying to win even when he's dead.
Jacob: You don't think Sector might have survived, do you?
Slater: (thinks) The possibility of that is really low. The amount of blood he lost is impossible to survive and judging from the damage he took, he couldn't have gotten out of the burning building. Either he's ashes or a lifeless corpse. Jacob, I thinks it time I ask help from Z.

Jacob ignores the question. Instead, he gets up from the couch and looks outside the window. Slater got up from the couch as well, a little frustrated, and marched towards Jacob.

Slater: Jacob! Please, you're the only one who could do this!
Jacob: (sigh) Slater, I thought I made it clear that Z's Creed is over.
Slater: Come on Jacob, don't be like that, think about what might happen to all those people.
Jacob: (annoyed) I'm not shedding more blood over something that isn't of my concern.
Slater: How can this be not of your concern, what if Sector really is alive!?
Jacob: Tell me that when you actually find him.

Jacob then slowly starts walking away from Slater, showing no emotions at all.

Slater: (frustrated) Jacob, you said that you would protect anyone close to you, didn't you? There is someone close to you in Japan who's life might be in grave danger if you don't help her! Don't tell me you forgot about her!
Jacob: (shocked) Wait... you don't mean?
Slater: (smiles) Yup, her. She's till there, with her brother.
Jacob: Ellie...
Slater: If she means as someone close to you, then I know you will do anything to save her. You said you don't ever want to lose anyone close to you, now is your chance to prove that.

Jacob then walks towards the picture on his wall and removes it, revealing a case in the wall which he opens and removes his sword from it. He then slightly removes the sword from the scabbard, revealing his parents name written on the edge of sword which reminded him of the promise he made with his parents. He turned slowly and gave Slater a smile.

Jacob: So what's the plan?
Slater: (relieved) Now that's what I was waiting for!

1 week later

Jacob entered the airport, finding many people dashing against each other. The early went to a cafe and the late wrestled their way through. As for Jacob, he only had 15 minutes till his flight would depart. He made it in time and found himself sitting in a row of empty seats in the airplane. It's a gonna be a silent trip, Jacob said it to himself. As he sat down next to the window, he remembered the conversation he had with Slater last week. The mission was to go to Japan and find out what was the President up to. If what he thinks is true, then he must destroy all the X Projects.

Slater: Hey! Can you hear me?
Jacob: Hmm? Yeah I hear you, what is it? Did I forget something?
Slater: Just checking if the micro-communicator was working.
Jacob: Works like a charm. I'll let you know when I get there.
Slater: All right! Good luck!
Jacob: See ya! (disconnects).

Jacob then laid back and went to sleep as the plane took off.

15 hours later

Finally, as the plane landed, Jacob got out of the plane showing a little sign of discomfort. It was due to him sleeping the wrong way, it's to be expected. As Jacob took his luggage and exited the airport, Jacob looked at the sky and observed snow falling from the sky. It's the first time he has ever seen snow. He smiles and starts walking towards the road.

Jacob: Ellie... Abraham... if we cross paths, what should I do? Should I tell you who I really am? (thinks) I think I shouldn't, it's for the best. I will do anything I can to protect you 2.
