“How much longer until we arrive?” I had checked the clock in the car. We had already been driving for three hours. I began to feel nervous the more time it took us to go “shopping.”
“A little while longer, stop asking.” Harry snapped back.
“Where are we shopping?”
“At a store.”
“But where-
“Stop asking me questions, dammit!” His hands hit the steering wheel in frustration. Mine began to shake. What if he wasn’t taking me to a store? What if he was taking me to some deserted place to....to do horrible, terrible things to me? He was holding me against my will in his house, or Benji’s house technically. I wouldn’t put it past him to come up with some sick plan to torment me.
I rested my head against the cool window, distancing myself from my captor.
Should I try to escape? Harry is an intriguing guy, but would he hurt me in some way? Would I find myself regretting ever wanting to learn more about Harry? Even if he did have an honest reason for why he is the way he is, would he be capable of telling another soul? It is difficult for him to tell me where we are going. I can’t imagine how difficult it might be for him to tell me about himself.
Should my curiosity overrule my reason? My reason is telling me to come up with a plan, a plan to escape. However, if I try to escape and somehow succeed, will I be tormented by my curious “what ifs?” If I don’t escape, will I be tormented by Harry himself?
If I want to escape, I would have to wait until we get back to the house. I have no idea where we are and I may find myself in a worse situation if I try to find freedom in a place I have no knowledge about. The front and back door to Benji’s house all have special locks that can only be opened by special keys, which only Harry and Benji hold.
I could try to escape out one of the windows at the house, but I still wouldn’t know where to go.
I needed to stop thinking about this. It was too draining to think about in one sitting. As the hum of the car vibrated through me, I felt myself drifting off into a sleep.
“Wake up.” A gentle voice spoke into my ear.
I hummed as my eyes fluttered open to the sight of Harry leaning over me slightly. I was in the car, and Harry had been prodding me awake from the driver’s seat.
“We’re here.” He stated flatly.
I took a few seconds to gather my composure, and reached for the door handle.
“No, you aren’t getting out.” Harry said.
“Why not? I thought we were shopping for me.”
“You’re going shopping dressed like that?” He taunted. I looked down at the nightgown and cardigan I was wearing. It would definitely be inappropriate to walk around dressed like this, not to mention downright unladylike.
