"Thanks," Saigry said. "But I didn't need your help."
"Those guards wouldn't have let you in without me." I said back, "So I kinda think you did."
"Whatever." She proceeded to walk to the librarian's desk, which was in the back of the room. The librarian was looking over a book with her head rested on her hand. "Hello." Saigry said to her quietly.
"Hey." the librarian said back in a really dull tone.
"Do you have any books about this town?" The librarian looked at Saigry.
"Yeah. Its all in the back room. Here's the key." The librarian handed her a golden key that was used to unlock the door to the back room. It was only at that moment when I realized that Saigry's Father could actually be trying to sabotage the town. "Thanks." Saigry said
"Whatever." The librarian replied. She stared at the book on her desk once again.
"Oh, do you also have any books on magic?" The question seemed to catch the librarian's attention for she looked back at Saigry with a slight smile. " I don't get a lot of people who come in here and ask about magic, but you just mean stories, right?"
"No I mean actual books on magic. Like with spells and stuff."
"What for? You can't use magic, can you?" Saigry hesitated to respond. She looked back at me as if to make sure I wasn't close enough to hear, even though I was.
"Actually, I can." She finally said.
"Interesting." The librarian stood up from her chair. "Follow me." she said as she walked towards the right corner of the room.
I stood still feeling worried that the town could be in even more danger because of me. After about a minute. I quickly walked to the corner of the room. When I turned to walk down the isle, Saigry and the librarian were gone. I was confused. I thought there could be a hidden door behind the shelf like in a mystery movie, so I started pulling books to see if there was a hidden switch. I pulled at least 30 books, but nothing happened so I decided to give up. I left the library not knowing what I should do. The guards were no longer standing in front of the door, most likely because the only person they would be guarding it from was already inside.
I went down stairs, and saw Braig laying on the couch, staring at the ceiling. "How are you feeling?" I asked him as I walked towards the couch. He looked at me. His eyes were light brown just like mine. It didn't seem like he wanted to answer, but he did. "Bored." he said as he looked back at the ceiling. "Where's the entertainment for a guy who needs some rest?"
"There's a T.V in the other room." I responded, " You can go over there, and watch something." He sighed loudly, then stood up. "Alright." he said as he started walking out of the room.
"wait," I called out to make him stop. " One more thing." I walked closer to him. "What's your father trying to do with this town? Why does he want the information of it." Braig hesitated to answer as if he was trying to think of a lie to tell, just like his father had done earlier. "Well, how should I know?" He responded "I was asleep until we got here." He then left the room. I was still unsure of what to do, so I went back upstairs to the library.
The librarian was back at her desk looking at the book again with a dull expression. I walked over to her. "Where's the girl you were with?" I asked. She neglected to look at me. "She's in the back room." She responded. I then went behind the desk and into the back room, where Saigry was sitting at one of the two desks reading a book in the dark. "Hey." I said to her quietly. I wasn't sure if she heard me or not, but she didn't respond. I walked closer to her. "Don't you think its a little too dark too read?" I then asked.
"No." she responded, "I can see just fine."
"Oh, ok." I sat down across from her. "So why does your father want the information of the town?"
"I don't know. Probably because he likes learning about the new places he visits."
"Oh. is that all? He's not trying to plan an invasion or something?"
"Why would you think that?" I thought about it for a second, but couldn't give her a reason.
"I'm not sure." I responded. She sighed deeply, and closed her book. It seemed that she was really annoyed with my questions. "You can turn the lights on now." she said. I got up, and walked over to flip the switch. The first thing I noticed when the light came on was the different coloring of Saigry's eyes. I pointed it out to her. "Saigry, your eyes changed color. They were gray, but now they're blue."
"Yeah." She responded, "They do that."
"Well that's cool." I started smiling.
"I guess." she said, as she stood up from her chair. She grabbed 2 of the books, and walked out the room. She then spoke to the librarian before she left the library. I had felt a little better about the situation after I spoke to her.
