Chapter 3: The Ambush

The next moring Shade awoke to find Raymins cloak and shirt but not Raymin. She began to worry but was shortly relieved to see Raymin coming from the woods. He wasn't wearing anything but his pants. She could see all of the scars on his body. They were like a story of all the battles that he had been through. It was partially horrific but at the same time ensuring in a sense. She continues to look at all the markings. "See something you like?" Raymin asks. "Not really, i was just wondering about your scars." Shade replied. "Yeah they appeared after my death. They are war trophies. They mark all the battles and fights I survived. But they also serve as a reminder of my failure." Raymin said. "Failure?" Shade asked. " Yes, the failure at the bandit camp and failing my kindom. But thats in the past, if you hold onto your demons they will control you." Raymin said starting to drift away in his thoughts. "Wow thats an impressive way to think." Shade said in awe. Before Raymin could respond an arrow came flying into his shoulder and he exclaimed "Son of a bitch. Shade get down!" Shade ran behind a tree. Raymin looked into the forest to try to spot the attackers but before he could see anything, a man with a black sword jumped out and swung down on Raymin slashing deep into his shoulder. Raymin grabbed the mans arm and pulls him towards himself and knees the man in his stomach. As the man falls, Raymin pulls the sword out of his shoulder before getting hit with another arrow in his back. Raymin turns around and shouts "Show yourself you coward!" At that moment a women jumps out of the trees and swings her bow at Raymin. As she comes down Raymin blocks her bow with the sword and kicks the women in her side and winds her. As shes on the ground Raymin raises the sword but before he could swing he heard a mysterious voice from behind him. "Stop right there buddy or else the girl gets it." When Raymin turned around a man was holding a knife to Shades throat. Raymin became enraged and pointed the sword at the man. "I'm gonna make sure your death is-" Before Raymin could finish talking he was struck on the back of his head and knocked unconscious. As he blacked out he saw the man knock out Shade as well.
