(Author's Note: I haven't had the time to edit and look over this one more time before I published it here. This is open for comments, critiques and maybe suggestions. I wrote this back in August 2011, I forgot I even wrote this. Haha. Anyways, this is to be continued. I hope you enjoy. This story is purely fictional.)
"I will marry you when the time comes. I love you so much."
"I still can't believe tayo na ulit," he said. The happiness he feels is obviously seen in his eyes.
She smiled. The kind of smile that tells everything she feels inside. But soon, they'll have to separate. To be apart in terms of distance, but not their hearts. So they spent each day together as if tomorrow will be the end. For the first time in her life, she was introduced to her boyfriend's family. They accepted her and welcomed her warmly. She became so close to his family that in every event they celebrate, she was invited. She even spent some nights in her boyfriend's house. His family has no problem with it because they felt sure that she will be part of their family. He became close to her family too. The same way his family accepted her. Her little cousins loved him.
There's no reason for them to break up now. They were just so happy. But then the time comes for her to leave. They promised each other that whatever happens they'll hold on to each other.
Sleepless nights..
Tired eyes..
Loneliness..
Longing..
They always made sure they have talked to each other before going to bed. Everything seemed to be perfectly fine..
Until..
A month had passed. Things suddenly changed. Kier seemed troubled that Kate felt like he's ignoring her.
The she felt that unfamiliar pain from her heart down to her stomach. She rushed to the bathroom..
The next day, she confronted him...
Kate: You seemed not interested in me anymore.
Kier: I've just been busy, baby. I'm sorry. School stuffs and everything.
She believed in him. They were okay again.
But she's still troubled with Kier's lack of time for her..
Kier: I'm sorry. I don't want to hurt you. But I can't get her out of my mind...and my heart.
It felt like her world was crashing and she's in the midst of breakdown.
Why don't you just kill me? she thought. Tears fell down from her eyes as she fell to the floor.
...
They've got a chance to talk again.
Kier: I don't want to break up with you. I just want to clear things up with her. I don't want you to be mad at me. I love you.
Kate: I want you to talk to her. Clear things up. I'll wait until forever.
Gosh, I can do that for him? she thought.
Kier: Thank you for understanding. I love you.
Kate: That's the least I can do. I love you too baby..so much
(Kier..)
He can't forget his past. There's this strange feeling he felt in his heart when he dreamt of Brenda. But he knew he loves Kate. What's wrong with him? He's longing so much for his past. But his commitment complicates what he feels.
He suddenly wanted to be free..
His flow of thoughts was interrupted when his gf beeped him up.
Kate: Baby?
Kier: Yup bhe?
Kate: Have I told you I might be pregnant?
Kier: Nope
Kate: What if?
(no reply)
(5mins. have passed)
Kier: What else can I do? Andyan na yan.
Ouch. I can feel his annoyance. He doesn't want his child anymore. The child we used to dream when we were together. Kate thought.
Kate: I'm just kidding. (Then she signed out.)
Kier: I know. Kung nabuntis kita alam mo na yon within two weeks.
(No reply. Offline.)
Are you pregnant?
(Still no reply. Offline.)
Damn. What if she's really pregnant? I'll regret it. Kier thought.
After a couple of hours she signed back in.
Kate: I said I'm just kidding.
(No more reply from him.)
She decided not to talk to him anymore. They broke up.
Kier made up with Brenda. He was happy. For a while. It's not what he had expected. He thought that he really loved Brenda, but something's missing and something's just not right.
February 2012
Kate came back home. To fulfill a promise.
They crossed paths in a beach resort. High school reunion. They exchanged words casually. Like some kind of old friends. But things have changed. That's what he didn't realized.
In her mind, "Love is cruel."
Then she smiled. She saw Brenda too. Perfect. Vacation.
She waited until Brenda was left alone. They talked casually. Until she saw Kier coming their way.
"He have to take the responsibility of being a father," Kate said to Brenda as if it was a simple thing. Brenda felt like her heart stopped.
"What are you talking about?" Brenda asked. Kier was finally on her side.
Kate looked at Kier then said, "We have a daughter, Kier."
"What?" Kier asked when he has recovered from the shock.
"We've talked about this, remember?" Kate answered with a question.
"But you said it was a joke."
"Of course. I was upset that time and your reaction killed me. It was obvious you don't want our baby anymore."
Kier, inspite of his confusion, felt a heat rise up his heart. He felt excited knowing he's a father of Kate's daughter.
"But why now, Kate?" Kier asked as he let go Brenda's hand.
"Why don't you ask yourself, Kier?" Kate said looking at Brenda.
Brenda walked out. Kier looked at Kate, then followed Brenda. They talked and decided to break up.
Kier went to Kate's room. He knocked but no one answered. She left. He checked the reception. They confirmed that she checked out. He doesn't have her number. After he checked out he drove directly to their hometown. It's the only place he can think of. Kate's home.
