After a short bus ride of Diego making jokes and people launching paper airplanes out of the bus windows, we arrived at Post Falls High. It was smaller than I expected but I guess that could be a good thing. The walk from the bus to the front of the school was chaotic. All the kids were screaming and laughing and running like maniacs. Diego and I walked quietly, probably because he had run out of jokes and I was borderline terrified.

My new friend showed me all my classrooms just on time before the bell rang. Sadly we had no classes together, but he also showed me where to meet for lunch. My first period was Math.. great. My teacher's name was Mr. Goldstien and believe me when I say he is weird. He's a tall, old man. His glasses sit on the bridge of his nose and his thin gray hair is slicked back and up. He speaks with a slight lisp, which doesn't bother me, but I noticed he chooses only a few people to look in the eye during his lessons. Thankfully, I am not one of those people. He called me out right away, though..

"Ah! Yes! How could I forget about our new student?" Mr. Goldstien said, sipping from the silver water bottle sitting on his desk. "Summer Davis...Daves, excuse me, please, introduce yourself! Go on, stand up!"

I awkwardly stood up and brushed the wrinkles in my shirt down. I chose to sit in the back of the class so it took a while for everyone's eyes to land on me. "Well, uh, I am Summer Daves. I just moved here. Duh..." Before I could finish, the whole class said 'HI SUMMER!' Thank goodness they did too, I didn't know what else to say. I laughed and sat back down.

"Alright everyone! Settle down.. I want you all to get out paper and a pencil!" Mr. Goldstien yelled over the class.

"Hey Summer, where'd you move from?" The girl in front of me asked, turning around to face me. She had almost yellow eyes, and beautiful black curls that framed her face perfectly.

"Too many places, if I went through the list, you wouldn't believe me," I laughed.

"Parents? What do they do?"

"They're scientists. Came to study something, I guess." I shrugged.

"Scientists! That's kind of cool. I love your nails,"

"Thanks," I smiled, "sorry, what was your name?"

"Oh! Right, duh! I'm Aiden! She laughed and held out her hand. I shook it, laughing along. "Now, listen to Mr. Goldstien, he's weird about people talking in class." And with that she turned around in her seat again.

I wasn't off to a bad start, I had already made two friends. Time flew after first period. In my second period class, I met these two girls named Avery and Camila. Avery is Vietnamese and seems to know everything about everything at Post Falls. Camila has a head full of luscious braids and seemingly shares my exact humor. Surprisingly enough, when I met Diego for lunch, we were all sitting at the same table. Along with two other boys, both blue-eyed and blonde-haired... although they looked nothing alike. The one with slightly darker hair was named Asher. The kid sitting across from him was Dallas.

"Funny seeing you here! When did you and Diego meet?" Aiden asked me as I sat down.

"On my way to school, actually, in the bus," Diego nodded in agreement.

"Usually I pick Diego up," Dallas began, "but I slept over at Asher's last night so I couldn't. I could pick you up too, everyday, if you want me to, Summer."

"Sure, yeah, that'd be great. You have a car?"

"Well, it's my dad's old truck. Technically juniors aren't supposed to drive to school but everyone in this town knows each other, no one's gonna tattle-tale."
