1:
The cool breeze hit me like a ton of bricks as I stumbled back. My eyes were sore and aching, yet I still scrunched them together to rub off the itching sensation. Slowly, I adjusted to the cold air and tried to fix my black locks that were flopping over my eyes, stinging. Today was clearly not my day.
After a week of term break, I still wasn't ready to face the hell they innocently call school. Mum said she would get me a car for year 13 since I couldn't just get a ride from my brother, Zach anymore. He was officially moving to Dubai to fulfil his dreams of becoming a doctor. And I couldn't wait for summer holidays because we'll be going there to see how's he doing. Let's be honest, I'm not going there to see his job and how much he's earning, I'm going there what he is spending his earnings on. I want to see his fridge, his hotel, and the beauty of Dubai's restaurants... oh and Dubai, yeah.
The holiday hadn't even been that amazing, it was just me watching YouTube and ignoring Aura's phone calls and texts. I really didn't want to talk to her, to be honest I don't even know why I'm friends with her. I guess I just didn't want to feel lonely and was blinded from the truth for two years. She was just a snobby rich kid. Yeah, those ones who beg "daddy" for a new car every month. And I guess you could describe her as one of the popular girls. One thing I am jealous of though, is her looks. She has rich chocolate skin and long dark brown hair with her tips dark blonde. Her eyes are a light blue that shine in the sunlight. She was gorgeous. Model gorgeous.
I, on the other hand don't give two chocolates about my appearance. I don't wear any makeup, which I think is absolutely OK because it's nice to have a natural face sometimes. I hate the fact that this generation just believes, even from a young age, that to look beautiful you were makeup. We all have flaws, God graced us with them, and we can't tell others off on their flaws because you need to look at yourself first - sorry, I got into a whole preach. But it's something I seriously believe in.
I like to think I'm a little smart. I'm in top sets except PE and Music, which is surprising since I love Music. If I had to pick a few artists to listen to for the rest of my life, it would be Beyoncé, Rihanna, Bruno, Justin T, Drake and Sia because that's totally a few. PE however, is a different story. I just can't. Full stop.
RING RING
Oops. Now that's the alarm for anyone late to registration.
I slammed my car door shut and locked it, throwing my keys into my black backpack. Bending down, I quickly tied one of my shoe laces that came undone and scurried to the front desk.
"Hello, dear." The lady greeted me with a soft smile on her face and I grinned back "Late for the first time. I never expected it would be you Miss. Taylor."
"There's a first time for everything," I replied back taking the schedule off her. "Except this, I guess." I looked at my schedule and saw I had General Knowledge classes first period. We have that at the start of every new school term so the teachers know what we struggle with on our studies in general.
"What's first period?"
"GK." She filled me in as late and quickly gave me a late pass as I calmly walked to General Knowledge. It was only a few doors away now. 113, 114, 116. Go back! Ah, 115. I pushed the door open and saw the back of Mr. Green.
"Vivian Taylor," he stated and spun around, furrowing his brows at me.
"That's my name." I immediately took back what I just said. It sounded so bad, as if I was trying to talk back to him but he just dismissed me and I sat down next to Aura and one of her friends, Alissa.
"Vivian! Why didn't you answer any of my calls?" Aura whisper - shouted. I knew this was coming some time. Better just face the music and be honest -
"My brother was close to losing his job so we all had to make emergency compromises," I whispered back, trying to persuade her to believe me. "Wait, you don't...trust me?"
"No, no, Vivian. I believe you. It's just, is your brother really going? I didn't even ask him out yet -"
I grabbed her arm and pulled her close to me. "Aura, you will never date my brother. Ever. We will never be related."
"I hate you, Vivian."
"I love you too."
~~~~~
Soon, class was over so Aura and I were walking shoulder to shoulder to period two. Since her father was the head, he basically put us together in all of the classes this week because it's our first week back and he wanted his little girl to be happy. Aura wasn't even little. She turning eighteen in two months and is going to have this huge party. Apparently it's going to be party of the year according to her. For me, I don't celebrate my birthday and mine was just two days back when we came into school for a lecture before school actually began.
"So Alissa told me that she saw our science teacher and we are so lucky because he's so hot!"
"Aura!" I acted hurt, placing my hand over my chest. "How could you say such a thing when you know you like my brother." She giggled with her annoying high pitched laugh. It wasn't even a giggle, it was more like a llama shrieking.
"Yeah, well his name is Mr. King," she said dreamily. "Isn't that name so -"
"Hot! Yeah, I get it, Aura." She giggled again. "He's hot, so what?"
I heard a deep voice behind me cough. "I will begin my lesson when I'm allowed entrance into my own room," the person said in their rich, velvety voice. Then reality hit me and I snapped out of my trance and lightly jogged to a seat at the back and sat down. I couldn't take it anymore, I looked back at the door and saw who it was and I stopped breathing for a second.
The most gorgeous guy I've ever seen. Is he a model? I think he is, with his dark brown hair and a little scruff of beard. He had the Zac Efron blue eyes and the most straight teeth I've ever seen. And did I mention, his eyebrows are goals, my God they're perfect. They make mine look like a mess. My eyes trailed over his outfit, a pale blue shirt tucked into black trousers and his ton button undone on his shirt revealing the top of his chest. Damn. He makes Ian Somerhalder look like an ordinary guy.
I was stuck daydreaming about him I didn't even realise when the whole class fell into laughter. I came back to reality and understood what was happening. The class was laughing at Aura. I didn't even know she didn't come back to her seat with me. She stood at the door with drool coming down her chin as she looked up at Mr. King. Actual drool! At this moment, I felt bad for her and just looked down at my desk trying to contain my smirk. But what Aura said next shocked me.
"You're gorgeous."
No, I take that back. What Mr. King said next shocked me that I whipped my head up to look at him.
"You're even more gorgeous, Aura."
I TAKE THAT BACK! WHAT THE CLASS DID NEXT SHOCKED ME!
They all whistled and clapped and one boy shouted, "I ship you!"
·A/N:
Thanks for reading; make sure you vote and comment what you think Vivian will do next or what any of the other characters introduced so far will do. This is the first chapter of the book and its going to be different to other romance novels, hopefully. I tried to change things and make it so that people in the school including teachers don't care whether as student and teacher are dating because in other novels it always happens that someone finds out and threatens to tell the school board.I like constructive criticism, so if it is going to help me. If you don't enjoy the book, then you can just leave. Full stop. You don't need to tell anyone in the comments that you're leaving. Just leave.
Enjoy. ·
