A Chink in Her Knight's Armour

Hey guys !!! Sorry for the delay ............Here's the 10th chapter !

(Aahana 's point of view)

I sat on a rug while the lady brushed my dark brown hair; she was gently combing it, till a thought made her stop.

"Aahana, you toyed with our guests. Your brother will not be happy", she said with a hint of concern. "My lady, you know how easily he is susceptible to attachment even when they are to be detested. Had it not been for me, he would have let them go. I will not let that happen," I said slyly. I could feel that her hands had become unsteady. "My lady, I love listening to your story and how purposeful our life is. I pity those who don't know their destiny and wander like a deer in search for the musk scent," I said looking at the beautiful black roses kept ornamentally in her vase.

"Alright my Aahana, listen to it carefully; after my consort set himself ablaze, my guru Rishi Tyaag saved me from the clutches of king Rudra, I was severely wounded", she choked with rage but continued to strain, "the ashes of my despondent husband were kept in an urn magically sealed by the rajpurohit as he knew it could breed nothing but pure evil. Only the lineage of king Rudra could unseal what was framed as forbidden. I spoke to my guru tearfully, "after all the agony, I want to avenge what was once mine and lost to these insolent barbarians." Rishi Tyaag always had a soft spot for me and on hearing my plea, he asked me to perform penance to wash off my sins. Thereafter I was blessed; my lineage would destroy king Rudra's.

I pleaded to rishi Tyaag that I wanted to witness it, groom my progeny who were to commit to this destiny. "Satyagni, you shall be a figment of imagination for your twin progeny who are bestowed with this ability," he said calmly.

"They would transport anyone to their mind palaces without leaving remnants of their conscious self. You will live forever in them, through them," is all he said.

"I died peacefully for I knew I will be reborn with you, but little did the rishi know that destroying king Rudra's lineage was the least that I wanted. To let open the forbidden urn that would sap out every iota of happiness was what I truly sought," she said with a half moon smile and glimmer in her hazel eyes.

I heaved a sigh of relief for it reminded me what was to be accomplished; I kissed my lady goodnight before I awoke to the 'real' world in search for the forbidden urn. "Aaran, you cannot hide your footsteps from me. You are heading to meet them to again leave behind cues. Judas you are!" I spoke under my breath agitatedly as I travelled in the metro.
