The broken angel

The demon had slashed at me. I fell to the floor pain abducting all feeling from my body numbing it in a cold and hot way. The air from my lungs escaped my blood turned to stone. If I wasn't dead already then I defiantly was now. I felt blood begin to soak through my dress. The sword was somewhere flung from my fall. I lay awkwardly on the floor one wing folded below me the other sticking straight up. I lay listening to my breathing and slowing heartbeat. Suddenly as if a cold hand had chocked me, I blacked out.

We ran towards her. Jumping over rubble and broken chairs. Tyler got there first he was always a little faster then me. He bent down by Tess. I ran straight to the monster. I ran my hands in the slashed skin . In the corner of my eye I saw a glint of silver. It was the sword. I quickly put the disappear code onto the monster an watched the demon quickly dissipate . I ran toward the sword and picked it up. Scarlet blood sat at the tip.  The handle had a small turquoise stone and carved symbols made from gold.
"Max, check this out." Tyler said.
I walked towards him. His hand was softly grazing the wings. His fingers moved towards the golden tips on them were marks. I recognized the image of an angel. Several more markings were near.
"They look like what I saw on the sword." I said softly.
"What, can I see." Tyler begged.
I handed him  the sword then started examining Tess. I noticed blood pooling by and two large gashes on her back.
"We need to take her back with us." I said.
"And let her go to the nobles. No way I am letting go of this phenomenon." Tyler said.
"Well where else are we supposed to heal her, she passed the test as a coder but she can't be a coder if she isn't  alive." I said.
"My apartment, I can take her there while you get a bunch of the healing stuff from the main house and we can take care of her there." Tyler offered.
"Will I trust you with some angelic woman in your house." I asked.
"Yes, sir."he said strictly "after all you are my boss."
"Fine, but if anything goes wrong my boss will not be happy." I replied.
"Your boss won't even know." Tyler said smugly.

I woke in a small room. Some blonde hair guy was doing some chanting with a rock in front of me. And a brown hair dude had just walked in holding glasses of water and a tin of cookies.
"Max, she is awake." The cookie guy said to the other guy chanting who I assume is Max.
"Oh, I didn't notice." Max said shyly.
I moved my arm and suddenly felt a vine of pain whip across my body slapping me with the strength of a thousand suns. I flinched.
"Don't move". Max said protectively. "The code I put in won't sink in until noon so you got an hour or two." He continued.
"Uh, where am I." I asked in a small croak.
"Don't talk either". Max said." Your voice is gone so, it's a side effect to the codes."
I rolled my eyes.
"I am Tyler, the one who didn't want to put a bajillion codes on you but, Max insisted." The cookie boy said.
I made a slight movement acknowledging that I had heard him.
"And codes are a system of symbols combined with minerals used to aid people of the dusk, like you and I." Max added.
I blinked to show that I heard that as well. A pain in my head began to grow. It felt like someone was banging a mallet against my skull. My body Tensed and I wanted to scream, but I knew it would hurt me more. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain to subside. When I opened them again both the boys were staring at me looking very concerned.
"Is it fine if we leave you for a bit to rest. We just wanted to know if you were alive." Tyler asked kindly.
I just barely moved my head in a nodding motion. Minutes later the two boys shuffled out of the room leaving me with my thoughts.

I was exhausted but work still needed to be done. Why can't the day just be over already. Outside the window a gentle rain poured, creating a calm air around the building. Tyler was lying on the sofa flipping through text books and papers for his class.
"Hay, Ty I am gonna head to the main to get stuff and create a report. Can you take care of her?" I asked.
"Sure thing and can you pick up pizza on your way back. I have discount pages for the new place that opened up just around the corner." He replied.
"Sure, why not." I replied. While grabbing the coupons and heading out the door.
I arrive about twenty minutes later at the front of the main. It's a normal looking building blends in like a small cafe in a plaza.
"Max?" A voice says from above.
I look up to see a figure standing on one of the balconies.
"Jesse!?what are you doing here."I yelled while looking up at my older sister.
"Big question is bro, what are not doing here." She said while hopping off the balcony down by me.
She was two years older then me. I was twenty she was twenty two.
"I just came for a quick refill of supplies and to register a new coder. I am staying at Tyler's for a bit." I replied calmly.
"Oooooh Tyler." She said flirtatiously." Can I come, Tyler loves me." She continued.
"No, that's messed up sis. Now let me go through and get stuff done." I snapped an tried to pass by her towards the door but she slightly moved her foot in front of a me and suddenly I was falling face first in front of the door.
"What is going on out here!" A deep voice yelled.
"My brother came, he needs a refill on supplies and to register a new coder." Jesse said while I pulled my self off the ground.
"Hello, Ludwig." I said."
I stood up and shot a dead glare at my sister. I walked over to the door and greeted the tall man with warm grey eyes.
"Max, I see you have come." He said sadly.
"Yes." I replied.
"Good now get out of my sight before I stab your brains out with a spoon." Ludwig said while holding up a tiny silver spoon in his hand.
He had lost his marbles not to long ago when he daughter died because of leukemia. He is the oldest person to ever run a main house and does a pretty good job with the Boston one. I quickly ran inside escaping the old mans piercing gaze. Ludwig closed the doors behind me and I heard a faint chatter behind them. I looked around the hall was a littered with scattered papers and books on the floor along with small pieces of minerals. I walked up the large staircase leading up to the second floor. When I got there I made a few turns got lost the finally entered the library.
"Hay, Maxy my man." A squeaky voice yelled.
I turned my head to see Carlos leaning against the counter holding about twenty books and trying to fix his glasses which were escaping down the bridge of his nose.
"Let me help you there." I said running over just in time to catch the toppling pile of books.
Carlos recollected himself then quickly took the books from my hand said a hurried thanks then rushed of somewhere. I continued my stroll through the library.I wanted to look into the odd angel wings that appeared. I went through about twenty history books and an old folk one before finally finding what I needed. I quickly glanced at my phone. The time read 12:44. I grabbed the ancient text and ran over to one of the computers to do the register. After about thirty minutes of searching up Tess Wood I learned that she was a student at Harvard and  had no social life on the internet cause I suck at searching for people's personal information. I quickly finished filling in whatever I could like age and gender then submitted it and left the building as fast as possible.
