As this is the first book review I've ever published, let's start it of with a book I enjoyed over the holidays. I found this book when having a shop at Tescos (British shop for any Americans reading this) and after buying it it just sat on my bookshelf. Until I decided to bring it with me on a holiday to Florida to get another book read on my bookshelf.

As soon as I started the first chapter I was hooked. The book has a sense of some sort of grip that made me want to finish the book in a matter of minutes. Course, i finished it in a few days as we were busy on the holiday but that's beside the point. It had a good story-line and will get anyone hooked into the grueling world of Sophie, and her holiday to visit her family in the Isle of Skye.

The synopsis of the book states: "Dunvegan School for Girls has been closed for many years. Converted into a family home, the teachers and students are long gone. But they left something behind.... Sophie arrives at the old schoolhouse to spend the summer with her cousins. Brooding Cameron with his scarred hand, strange Lilias with her fear of bones and Piper, who seems too good to be true. And then there's her other cousin. The girl with a room full of antique dolls. The girl that shouldn't be there. The girl that died.

When Sophie's life is struck with a tragedy regarding a Ouija board, resulting in freeing the spirit of her dead cousin Charlotte, it urges her to find out what really happened to her cousin. And as the book goes on the truth will guarantee surprise anyone.

Now I rarely read any horror novels but this may start a newly-founded addiction to this genre. The characters are superbly developed and as you progress throughout the novel the amount of plot twists kept surprising me until the end of the book.

Overall, the author did an excellent job of writing this novel and, as there will be a sequel coming out soon, I will eagerly anticipate for its publication and recommend it to everyone i know.

Rating: 9/10
