"She doesn't have all three Guardians though, does she? That means she can't kill them."

"No... She took Allison's dad just this morning at the bank. Well, he actually sacrificed himself."

"Holy shit."

Riley was currently in Stiles' Jeep with him and they were driving to Lydia's house so they could see whether or not she could find the guardians. Riley wasn't sure on what Lydia really was, but then again, no one did. Although, she did have an idea, but she just doubted herself.

"Listen Stiles, back at the hospital... I wasn't implying that you were weak. It's just that everyone is powerful, and they have abilities... I just don't want you to get hurt. You can take care of yourself, I know, but it's hard to just let the people you love go out into the world, into the face of danger, alone. That's what I meant. You're not weak Stiles."

He kept his gaze on the road as they pulled into her long driveway. When he turned the car off, he sighed and looked at her with a smile.

"Thanks, Riley." He said, and she smiled back at him. The two got out of the car and up to Lydia's house, where she greeted them at the door and lead the two to her living room.

"Where's Scott?" She asked, as they all sat down on the comfortable chairs. Lydia's house was very luxurious.

"Scott went off with the Alpha Pack to find his mom and my dad." He explained, pacing back and forth in the room.

"I don't believe it. Scott can't really be with them. He can't be." Lydia argued, shaking her head at the boy. Riley played with the loose strings at the seam of the cushion and Lydia stared at her. "Riley, stop that."

"You didn't see the look on his face, though. Right, Riley? Riley, stop that." Stiles pulled her hand away from the cushion and moved it to the other side of the couch as the two looked at her in a very unimpressed expression.

"Sorry, yeah. He's only doing what he thinks is right." Riley said, offering her opinion to the two teens, who just brushed her off. Rude.

"Then what can I do? I mean, I get that I'm some kind of, like, human geiger counter for death, but... I don't know how to turn it on and off yet. All I know is that she tried to kill me because of..." She trailed off, remembering something from the night of her near-death.

"Because of what?" Stiles asked, as Riley leaned on the arm of the couch so she could get closer to her. It seemed like she was going to tell a secret, so naturally she would get closer to hear it.

"When she called me a banshee, she was surprised by it. What if that's not why she tried to kill me?" Lydia continued, and Riley was washed over with realization as she leaned back on the couch. Her actions seemed to go unnoticed by the two who were invested in the conversation.

"Then why did she?" He asked, and Lydia shrugged.

"That's what we need to find out."

"Lydia, you're a banshee... Of course you are! It makes so much sense now! How did I not see it sooner?" Riley was mostly just babbling to herself, as she raised herself from the couch and collapsed back down as the realization kept hitting her.

"What are you talking about? What did you not see sooner?" Lydia asked urgently. "Riley, tell us now."

Riley looked up and stared at the eager girl and curious boy. "You're a banshee. The wailing woman, the Irish legend."

"How do you know about that?"

"I read about it in the Bestiary, but I doubt either of you would be --"

"Wait, Bestiary? How do you have that?" Stiles cut in, and Riley's inner shield grew angry.

"I found it in my house." She replied, biting her lip as the only thing that went through her head was the name Argent, Argent, Argent.

"Why is it at your house and not on a USB stick owned by Gerard?" Lydia asked accusingly, and Riley bit her lip on the inside.

"Um, well, I don't really have the answer to that question. I have the original copy but Gerard doesn't." She explained, but one thing had stuck to her mind regarding Chris. "Why would Chris sacrifice himself? Doesn't he know now that they will all die and the Darach will have full power, ultimately putting us in danger?"

"Riley, he did it so the Alpha pack would be killed or driven out of Beacon Hills, or whatever. But that's not the point right now, right now we need to find a way to find our parents before Jennifer kills them." Stiles ignored her question, but she was still cut up on it. Maybe that's that whole point of why he did it... To drive the Alphas away. Maybe that's why he would risk his life for the safety of his daughter and their friends.

But there wasn't time to dwell over it, in that moment, all they had to care about was finding the guardians before it was too late.
