We was home with daddy watching re runs of family matters until his phone rang , he told us he'll be back in less than 30 minutes "listen sweethearts daddy got some business to handle I'll be back in 20minutes don't open the door for anyone don't even answer the phone you hear me ?" listening to my father talk like this scared me but one rule he always told me was to never show fear. Since I was 5 my father been teaching me a couple of things I should know in order for me and Allison to survive out on these streets And I've been holding them in my head since then" ok daddy , but why are you leaving ?" I asked holding onto Allison hand
" I got something to handle " he said while opening the door , the cold wind hit me , it was January 9th and it was snowing heavily out there " I love you baby girls always--"
" and forever " me & Allison finished I gave him a slight smile quickly ran up to him and gave him a kiss on the cheek "be safe out there"
" You know I always am " and With that he locked the door , We ran to the window to watch where he was heading , he put on his huddie , looked back at the house and got into his car.
About 4hrs later a heavy knocking filled the house " OPEN THE DOOR ITS POLICE " my heart began to race while thousands of questions were floating through my head. ' the police ? ' I questioned myself , I snatched my stuffed bunny rabbit my mother had gave me for my 3rd birthday , picked up Allison and ran upstairs and quickly hid in the back of my fathers room
" OPEN THE DOOR POLICE " more banging , I covered my ears as sirens were filling the area , tears were quickly falling from my eyes and hitting my shirt.
The front door swung open as I heard footsteps running up and down the staircase , I heard a loud thud on the bedroom door , slowly a police men approached us "we got two little girls in the upstairs bedroom" the caramel police officer said into his walkie talkie. He reached out his hands , Allison grabbed a hold on his hands but I was hesitating on wether I should hold his hand or remain seated waiting for daddy to come back.
" I'm not going to hurt you" I slowly reached out my hand , we walked downstairs as he led us out the house, the cold wind hit me and Allison We had on matching hello kitty pajama sets and fuzzy sandals he realized our shivers , he kneeled In front of us and gave us his coat to share
" sweetheart what is your name?"
" Om.. I'm Angel .. Angel Jones , and my little sister is Allison Jones "
" and Bryant A. Jones is your father correct ?" I slowly nod my head as a response to his question
" okay guys were going to take a trip to the police station , ok ? "
" Uh - my daddy told us not to go anywhere with strangers "
" it's okay were the good guys sweetie " he put us in the back of the police car and drove us to the police station they said they were going to do background information to see if we have any other relatives to pick us up I didn't know why when daddy should be picking us up pretty soon about 45 minutes later a women maybe in her late forties , early fifties , brown skin , dark brown eyes , red and black hair Approached us
The caramel police officer approached us " Guys this is your grandmother Melanie " I looked at the women confused never once have me nor Allison seen this women and she's our grandmother ?
" why is she here ? " I asked
