Michelle's POV:
"Wait, so if you're a Veela, I'm your.."
"Mate."
All she could do was gaze at the handsome boy before her. She was thinking about him a few minutes ago, and now he just told her that he's a Veela, and she, Michelle Gomez, is his mate.
Can someone wake her up from this nonsense dream she's having? A hard slap would do.
Draoc's warm hand holding hers brought her back to planet Earth. He gently squeezed her hand, and it channeled emotions of relief, awe, and a deep sense of care. She gasped as it made its way to her heart.
Did she feel what he was feeling?
"We have to go to my parents, they will know what to do with our situation."
Without another word, Draco Malfoy dragged her out of her family's bookshop and disapparated with her to a vast living room with antique vases and other decorations, along with expensive furniture.
Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy, Draco's parents, are sitting there on the expensive couch. Knowing she was standing before three former death eaters, she felt slightly scared.
"M-Malfoy what are we—"
"Draco! Where have you been? And who is this young lady?"
She and Malfoy's father said at the same time. Her parents eyed her curiously.
"What is your name, dear?" Narcissa Malfoy asked softly. It was not the kind of tone she expected from a former follower of the Dark Lord.
Malfoy squeezed her hand that he was holding possessively, encouraging her to answer his mother's question.
She cleared her throat. "My name is Michelle Gomez. It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy."
The couple stood up and shook her hands. Things are getting weirder by the minute.
Michelle felt a tinge of pain like she had touched something burning when she accepted Lucius Malfoy's hand. Draco let out an involuntary growl and held her back from his father. The older Malfoys looked at each other and smiled at the pair.
"Are you here to tell us you have found your mate, Draco?" Lucius asked the obvious. She looked up at Draco, who had gotten taller over the years.
"Yes," Draco answered rather stiffly. His unexplained anger towards his father for causing her pain bubbled inside him. Michelle touched his left cheek and caressed him gently to calm him down. His silver-gray eyes found her blue ones and looked at her with an intensity that caused her to gasp.
You are mine and only mine...
"Father, how come Michelle did not feel the same when she shook Mother's hand?"
"That's because they are both female. The burning sensation signals you that your mate is around other males. It is like male Veelas to be territorial towards their mate. And since only your mate can feel your emotions, she'll be the only one to calm you down."
They both nodded in perfect unison. Then their eyes found each other again, admiring their physical attributes.
"Do you study at Hogwarts as well?" Narcissa's voice broke through their eye contact.
"Yes, I'm a year younger than Mal—Draco." It physically hurt her chest not to say her mate's given name. She felt Draco smirking smugly.
"That's perfect, it would be extremely difficult to be away from each other now that you have fully acknowledged each other as mates." Lucius said with a relieved expression.
"Speaking of that, has your family been informed about this, Michelle?" Narcissa asked with concern. She's still in a daze about Draco being her mate as he is a Veela that she forgot she left the bookshop without a word. Her family, especially her parents, needs to be informed.
She shook her head. "We need to talk about this with them."
Draco's POV:
"Interesting, there are not many wizarding families with Veela heritage in England, as they are mainly from France."
"The Malfoys are originally from France, and with many French witches married to the family, our Veela blood remained strong up to the present day."
Hector Gomez is enjoying his conversation with his father, Lucius. Michelle's father and her mother, Stella, were both Ravenclaws when they studied at Hogwarts.
Stephanie Gomez, his mate's little sister, who is about seven years old, eyed him curiously. At least the little girl didn't have a problem with him. His future in-laws could have been more receptive to him when they apparated to Gomez's residence and explained their situation.
Draco really couldn't blame them. Their family was on Potter's side during the war. The couple began to warm up to them when they told them that they wanted to keep the Veela heritage safe from the Dark Lord, and that's why they were forced to be death eaters. No wizard parent would want their daughter to be married to a family of willing former followers of an evil wizard.
"I have read that veela's cannot be separated from their mates once they have acknowledged each other as partners." Stella spoke quietly.
"Yes, that's true. I had to reside here in the manor when Lucius and I accepted that we were bound to be together." Narcissa said gently, as it would not be easy for Michelle's parents to let their eldest child live with them because of the situation.
It felt weird for Draco to understand other people's feelings. His twisted upbringing didn't precisely teach him to be human toward others, except for his parents and other family members like Bellatrix Lestrange, who supported Voldemort's cause wholeheartedly.
He felt a smile spread across his mate's face. Draco found her scanning their family album and looking at his pictures when he was about nine or ten. He was supposed to be indifferent to his connection with the sweet Ravenclaw. But he finds himself loving it as the minutes and hours pass by.
Michelle was primarily focused on his pictures, where he was playing on top of a toy broom.
"You've always loved flying, haven't you?" Michelle asked softly. Their parents are still engrossed in conversation about the nature of Veelas.
"Yes. I would fly around the garden. Eventually I learned how to play Quidditch. I have been playing ever since."
"Don't I know it? You are even team captain of Slytherin now." She smiled thoughtfully.
He looked at her intently. "Have you been keeping tabs of me?"
Michelle's smile disappeared, and she started to blush. "Of course not. In case you don't know, it is common knowledge that you are now team captain of the Slytherin house."
"Really? Didn't realize I was that famous." Draco said, teasing the lovely maiden beside him.
"It's on the papers, you know. Everything about you and your classmates gets written on The Daily Prophet."
And Rita Skeeter is to blame for that. The nosy woman had her way of knowing the juiciest news.
"Well, yes. Soon enough, the whole Wizarding Britain will know that I'm a veela and you're my mate."
Draco felt her inwardly groaning. "Merlin." Michelle said softly.
