"We'll just have to make sure that she's trained and ready to face her opponent. It's all that we can do at the moment. We'll put her in more defense courses and have her working constantly. From what we saw about some of her abilities, she should be able to hold her own with the right training." Leonidas decides.
"Do you really think that a disrespectful pup can really do this in such a short amount of time?" Hugo asks looking at Emma's small and fairly weak form doubt obvious in his tone.
"I can do this. I will become whoever and whatever I need to to protect myself and Krista and no man, woman, or beast can or will tell me I can't." She snarls at him. He raises an eyebrow as Lilith clears her throat trying to draw the attention from her outburst.
"I believe that she can and will do just fine." Lilith says. Leonidas nods in agreement along with Alen and Absolum.
"She will do just fine. Some of our best members at court had their trainings done in short time periods." Leonidas says in a tone that intends to dismiss the topic before moving on to other matters.
"I wish that there was more that we could do." Emma says getting ready for bed.
"Emma, no. You can't do anything yet. You still have much training ahead and I won't let you fight until then." Krista says partly scolding. Emma looks at the floor before crawling into bed and turning her back to Krista. She crawls into bed pulling her back against her kissing her shoulder. Emma tenses and they fall asleep in a tense atmosphere.
The next morning Emma is already gone for classes when Krista awakes. She slowly gets out of bed with a sigh. "I hope that I'm not in trouble with her." she thinks to herself. She gets dressed and goes down to the empty kitchen to think. When she looks up Emma is staring at her quietly her face showing none of her thoughts but her eyes telling a story.
"Can we talk?" Emma asks softly. Krista nods and watches worriedly as she walks to her.
"Am I in trouble or something?" She asks her. Emma smiles softly and shakes her head before taking her hand in hers. "Then what is it? Did I say or do something to upset you? What'd I do wrong? Are you going to reject me? Please don't tell me that you're going to reject me. I'd never be able to live without-" She starts babbling before being cut off by Emma's lips.
"May I speak now?" She giggles softly. Krista nods speechless momentarily. "I just did a lot of thinking and I skipped class to do it. I had to leave early enough that you would think that I went to class. I went to sit under a tree. I was thinking about things we've been through already and will likely go through." She begins before having to pause to take a shaky breath.
"And . . . ?" Krista asks the worry lacing her voice more profound.
"And, I realized that I cannot live without you, let alone let a small petty argument split us apart. There's a reason that the gods put us together and not with other people. We complete each other in a way that no others ever could. Our different perspectives create problems sometimes, but our similarities makes the making up so much better. If others let one petty argument split them apart, then no one would stay together, dating or married or otherwise. Krista, I honestly want us to stay together forever because when I'm with you, things feel right and complete. I will never reject you, but I reject all other prospective second chance mates. You are my one and only and I want to stay by your side if you will let me, but I understand if you don't want me anymore. . . ." Emma says looking at the floor.
"Emma . . . I-" Krista starts before someone runs into the cafeteria.
"You two, get out to the battlefield. We're under attack." The student says. Krista and Emma immediately stand and rush to the door.
"Emma, go with the Mortale dorm students." Krista says.
"Umm.... hell no. I'm not cowering away." She says stubbornly as she follows her towards the weapons room and grabs a weapon she thinks feels right in her hands.
"Stay out of the way and behind me then." She orders knowing that there is no time to argue with her. When they get outside, Emma's jaw drops at the amount of enemies that they are facing compared to the small amount of people that are available at Draemorth. "Reinforcements are on the way." Krista says rushing at the first guy trying to get to Emma. Emma closes her eyes and listens to the wind asking the trees to do her bidding in defeating these enemies. To their shock, trees left and right begin to grab up their enemies with branches, vines, and roots. In what seems like just a short time, Leonidas defeats their leader and the trees capture and decapitate the cowards trying to flee.
