Why?

It was dark outside. It was also raining. The air smelled like gas and pollution. That's how it is in the city. Everything looks gloomy and somehow depressing. Catherine didn't know. She didn't even understand. All she knew is that she was scared. She had no idea where she was and it was dark and cold and just plain out terrifying.

Where's mom? I don't want to be alone. I'm scared. I wanna go home. Please, mommy, where are you?

To a small child, a mother meant everything. Cathrine wandered around the dark, streetlight lit neighborhoods, searching. Small choked-back sobs escaped her tiny lips.

Cathrine had been wandering around the city for what, to her, seemed like forever. In the distance, she saw a familiar figure. One she hadn't seen in a long time. How a small child could remember something like that was a mystery.

She quickly ran towards it, shouting in excitement, fore she had finally found what she had once known to be her father.

"Daddy!" she cried. "Daddy! I found you!"

"Oh, hello Catherine. My, how big you've grown! Where's your mother?" he asked, with a slight hint of sarcasm, unbeknownst to the little girl.

"I don't know! I was with her and I saw a puppy and I followed it and when I turned around mommy was gone and I got scared and I went looking for her and I'm scared! Daddy! Help me find mommy!"

The man smiled a crooked, evil smile and grabbed Catherine, hard, by the arm.

"Ow! Daddy! That hurts! Stop!" she screamed.

"Shut the fuck up! Keep yer mouth shut!" he growled.

Catherine obeyed and held back her screams. She saw flashes of memories flowing through her small, innocent mind. She saw her mom, crying. Then she was screaming.

     What's wrong mom?

I-It's nothing sweetie. Please, don't be scared. Everything's going to be fine... I promise!

Then she saw her mother again, only this time, she was covered in red, sprawled on the floor.

Mommy?! Mommy?! MOMMY!  Why won't you answer me?! Please! Mommy! I'm scared!

That same feeling she had then was here now. The man she called father dragged her towards a black, beat up van. He opened the back and forcefully threw her inside.

     Mommy... where are you?

Note:

Ahah. This is a story about one of my characters and how they came to be. I don't know why it's so twisted. My minds just really fucked up. Plus I blame my friend Alicia because she made me make an account on here and I got bored, okay? I probably won't continue.
