" I'm so tired of this gloomy weather, it's never sunny even in the summer time. I can't wait leave this god forsaken place" My father laughed at me almost mocking my words of despair.
" You always see the downside to everything good Lord , go outside and enjoy life, stop being so gloomy " He walked out of my bedroom shaking his head.
I crammed my rain coat into my luggage and looked outside for the car to take me to catch my flight away from here. My sister wanted to accompany me on my new journey , I knew I had to do this on my own. All my life I've depended on my family to take care of me and provide all my needs, not anymore. I had to grow up as I had just turned 21, no more living with mom and dad at home. We lived in a two story blue and grey brick home. The summers were warm to everyone else but me, nothing made me happy living here.
"EVERLY, YOUR CAR IS HERE !" My brother called out loud. I felt my pulse quicken and excitement building knowing I was about to leave to America to make a new life for myself. I pulled my ash blonde hair into a high bun, zipped up my jacket and hugged my family, said my goodbyes, closing the door behind me.
"Bye, love you guys. I will call when I arrive safely. " The car pulled away from the curb , i watch my home fade away in the distance. I look forward again, my heart fills with euphoria and joy.
We drove through the countryside memories flash where I used to grow up and play with childhood friends over the years. The hills where I walked when I was in my painting phase. I wanted to be an artist, that quickly fell to the wayside. I applied to art school, you can say I didn't have the the right touch. I tried my hand at so many trades. Nursing , photography I even tried to be a teacher. I was as you can see lost at what I should do in life. That was until I found an add online for a roommate in America, a place in California called . I debated for awhile, life wasn't gonna wait for me to make up my mind forever. It was now or never. I answered and now here i am heading to Fresno. I don't know a soul but that's the beauty of living wild and free , you make frienda with strangers.
" Here we are lass, have a safe trip stay out of trouble if you can. " He patted my shoulder, helpung me lift my luggage out onto the pavement I thanked him a hefty tip. The smell of airplane fuel filled my nose. I knew I was about to embark on one heck of a journey.
