Faber est suae quisque fortunae.
-Every man is the artisian of his own fortune-I walk through the woods, focusing on the sounds around me. As I take silent steps I listen to the birds chirp around me. It's almost as if they're happier now, less humans. I stop when I hear a twig snap, it's most likely a deer, now that hunting season is a year round thing they seem to keep to the shadows. I continue to walk, I head to the local grocery store. Soon I'm going to have to find a different place to find food. This store was already running low when I stumbled upon it. There's barely enough supplies and food left to last me the next few months.

As I walk back, I decide to explore a few houses. I have a few hours until dusk so I've got time. The first house was disappointing, either the owners didn't care for healthy food or they evacuated with it all. The second and final house I come upon is a towering three-story brick house. The lawn is surprisingly neat, I walk up to the front door and check the door knob. Nice houses like this one are usually locked. Im not surprised when the door doesn't budge. I walk to the back checking all the windows on my way. Before I reach the backdoor I find one window that is unlocked, I push it up and throw my bag in. I go through head first, a mistake on my part, and crash right into a plastic plant. Shit, I do a mental inventory of my body parts making sure everything is intact. "Are you ok?" I cringe, of course I break into a house that is still occupied. I ignore the hand offering to help me up, and stand up alone. I come face to face with a boy about my age, maybe a year or so older. He has brown hair, and bright blue eyes. He's dangerously good looking. I shake myself out of the trance and manage to say, "My bad. I didn't know this was your house." I fake a smile and turn towards the exit, aka the window I just entered. "Wait!" He grabs my wrist abruptly, when I turn around my eyes wide he lets go and softly says, "You can stay if you'd like. It gets lonely." It's funny I wouldn't have thought twice about saying yes before, but it's different now. I shake my head, "I've really got to go, sorry." Before he can respond I grab my bag and jump out the window as gracefully as possible.

I walk home without looking back once. I should have covered my tracks, or made sure he wasn't following me, but he was harmless. I'm sure of it. Anybody with his good looks couldn't have lasted this long. I wonder where he's from, can't be from around here, I would've seen him around.

A face like his isn't hard to forget.

A face like hers isn't hard to forget.

Saying she was gorgeous is an understatement. Her long dark hair. It was black like a ravens feather. She was pasty, but it worked on her. She looked like a vampire, a badass one.

Before I would've flirted with her during school. I would've asked her out on a date. Spent hours looking in her eyes. I would've fallen in love, I can tell. I want to fall in love with her. I want her to fall in love with me.

I want to see her again. I need to see her again.
