I Think You Know Me

Jade West stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom, ten, tiny white pills in her hand. On her wrists, below the rolled up sleeves of her black sweater, white scars crisscrossed up her forearms. A black tear rolled down her cheek, leaving a dark trail on her skin. Thousands of horrible thoughts were running through her head, clouding her thoughts. She couldn't remember if she had left her suicide note in Beck's mailbox. She was sure she had.

As she looked down at her scarred wrists, everything seemed to come in focus. She singled out thoughts and matched them to the scars. That long one on her left wrist was from the day her Dad left her mother. The jagged one in her right wrist for the day Tori kissed Beck in front of her. One for the time Beck didn't open the door. Another for the day Beck tried to kiss Tori. For the time she was the understudy for Tori. For the time she broke up with Beck and then wanted him back.

For each thought she lifted the pills an inch towards her mouth. Soon she was ready to push them past her lips and end her horrible life forever. She was ready to die. But suddenly another thought popped into her head. A happy one. One of her and Beck. She tried to push the thought out of her mind, it only made her feel bad. It made her think of how devastated he would be when he found the note. But as much as she tried the image stayed in her brain. It was of the night she sung You Don't Know Me in front of the entire of Hollywood Arts. The night she and Beck kissed and made up. The best night of her life.

Slowly, more happy thoughts came into her brain. Mostly of her and Beck, but some of her and her other friends. With each happy image she lowered her hand from her mouth. Soon her hand was by her side and the pills spilled onto the floor. Tears spilt from her eyes and she fell to her knees. Bringing her hands up to her face she sobbed into the silence.
