"War"

"Is that really that really the only option?"

"Yes"

The voices hung heavy in the air as the sweet smell of tea failed to lighten the mood. The girls cup made a small tick as it was set on the table before them, the man's untouched as he thought about what had just been said. "There must be another option" he said in a low tone as he looked up to the girl who played mindlessly with her hair. Pursing her lips she hummed, turning to him with a grim look in her eyes. "You know very well Corey, that only time tells the truth" the younger looking girls voice was small and light, the danger of the words lingering in her voice. The confidence she gave off faded when faced with the man known as Corey. Once he heard her grim words, he slammed his fists down, the untouched cup of tea spilling its contents onto the fresh table. The girl sighed. "Really Corey?" her words went unheard to the man, his anger taking over the logic. "Is there any way I can stop it?" She examined the words he spoke, hazel eyes staring to the spilt tea that slowly made it's way to the edge of the table, building up and up until it threatened to run over. "...well. There are ways to postpone it but you know as well as I a war between dark and light is indelible, I see that this generation of angels is best suited for this. Not to mention, all paths I see start because of your lack of ability to turn down a fight." Her words only made Corey more furious, his hand swatting the blank cup off the table and into the wall with a loud smash. The shattered pieces scattered about, the sudden low dripping from the spilt tea to the floor filled the silence that the girl left. "you're like that tea" she said plainly as she looked back to him, picking up her own glass, and slowly taking a sip. As she did Corey spoke. "How?" He said grumpily. "Your anger can be contained, control and safe, until the anger of another spills it lose. And even then, you can control yourself, resist the urges. But like all in life, more and more builds up, until it has nowhere left to go, spilling freely to the world around it." Silence followed. Her words seemed to do nothing but drive the thoughts deeper into the mans mind, his black eyes going blank as he stared aimlessly at the spilt drink. Slowly, the squeak of a chair filled the room as the girl stood, dark brown hair falling loosely over her eyes as she looked to him. "Though don't be mistaken, even the most deadly of tempers calms, and like spilt tea, the pressure leaves, and the tea is left to wait." Black eyes looked to her and a small voice answered. "Wait for what?" Chuckles filled the room as the girl walked towards the door, heels tapping lightly on the ground. "Now that is something only time could tell" confidence had grown in her once more as she stepped out the door, Corey's voice following her. "Then tell me" demand was in his voice as the small girl hummed. "Rather not" and with that, the door closed, the faint sound of heels growing softer and softer as she left down the hall. Corey, alone once more, sighed, leaning back in his chair.

"And so an angelic war it is"
