Chapter 1
The feeling was eerie as I walked along the path of the old park with my mother, father, and older brother. Our once star filled night time sky was clouded and appeared as if would soon rain. Fog was starting off in the distance. As we walked the fog was getting closer and turned thicker with every step we took. The dead light brown grass crunched beneath our feet.
My parent’s reason for talking a walk so late was one I do not remember. It was strange thing to have occur. Seeing how I could not remember a day they were both together with my brother and me. They did not love each other. They haven’t felt that way since I was born and I know why. I was unwanted and at the same time wanted.
My mother wanted one child, and a son at that. Nothing else. She had gotten her wish with my older brother, Loke. He was the heir and the child she would spoil everything upon. Then the day came my mother found herself with me inside of her. She was disgusted, horrified, and in disbelief. That day she ran to my father and told him. Then she told him her plan that as soon as I was born they would drown me in river the flowed through our back yard. My father called her a monster, and then he threaten her to keep the unborn child alive. A month later my parents learned they were expecting a girl. My father was over joyed. He had work on the house done straight away to prepare for his future little girl. The day I was born, my mother had attempted to stab me through the heart with a kitchen knife. The doctors blamed it on a medication she was taking, but my father knew the real reason. Since that day, whenever my mother was to return home from business. I would always have Loke or my father with me at all times.
At the time, I didn’t know this. I was told my mother was busy and I was never to disturb her.
My brother squeezed my shoulder bring me back from my thoughts. I looked up and met his hazel honey eyes. His oddly cropped black covering some of his eyes. He was definitely a mix of my mother and father, but in an opposite way of me. He looked mature even if he was only fourteen.
My mother with her hazel eyes. Her long curly bronze hair adding curves to her face. Her olive skin making people jealous with their fake tans which look only somewhat decent compared to her.
My father had his baby blue eyes. His once fully black hair has been graying over the last few years. His skin was also quite tan.
Then there was me. With my Chalky pale skin. My long straight bronze hair. My marina blue eyes. I was only six at the time.
My brother bent down and offered me a piggy back ride. I gladly accepted for I was tired. I wasn’t use to staying up late at all. We continued walking until we reached the edge if the park.
There was a young man sitting there. He had pale skin like me. But there was something off about him. An average person would say that it was because of the blood on his face, or his red eyes, or maybe even the pile of bodies to his side. But no, I found the fact that he looked hurt under his falsified expression.
My father stood before the lone man. Then got on his knees bowing. My mother followed suit. Then my brother sat me on the ground and did the same. I just stood staring at the man. He gave a hand gesture and my parents stood up but as they did my father’s head went flying off, leaving a blood splatter everywhere but on myself and the man. My brother screamed and tried running off only for the same to happen to him. I didn’t really care. My mother went to her knees and starting crying out to the man.
“We did as we were told! Why are you doing this!? My family, my future!” MY mother looked over at me and pointed. “This…THIS IS YOUR ENTIRE FAULT. IF I COULD KILLED YOU THAT DAY, NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. WE WOULD BE A FAMILY! WE WOULD ALL BE HAPPY! BUT YOU RUINED IT ALL!” My mother got up and pulled out a dagger then began to run towards me. “DIE!” Only for her entire body to explode and blood splatter everywhere.
I blinked than turned my head back to the man. He was now watching me. I walked forward and stopped four feet in front of him. I reached with one hand out.
“Why are in pain?”
The man stared at me with astonishment. He stood up and then bent down to eye level with me.
“How do you know that?” The man placed a hand under my chin and looked at me curiously.
“Because that’s what you’re fooling act tells me.”
“Are you sacred?” He leaned in and whispered.
“Fear is only in the mind.”
The man seemed amused by this. Then he looked seriously at me. He pulled out a vile of a black liquid and he handed it out for me to take.
“I have chosen you. When you feel you’re ready to leave your life behind, ready to make it the past. Drink this vile and I will be back. But before I go, I desire to know your name, what may it be?”
I smiled and looked back. “Noella.”
“Noella…” The man let my name roll off his tongue. While staring upwards thinking, he smirked then looked back at me. “My dear Noella. I am James, remember it well.” He glanced down at me and then started walking away from me.
“You’re leaving?” I asked.
“Not by choice. Day is close. I must return before they have noticed my disappearance. Remember what I have told you, and all will go well.”
