Chapter Eighteen

Jaehee's Pov

Everything was dark---my surroundings were covered in nothing but darkness---I couldn't even lift a single finger.

Not long after I heard noises, it sounded like a couple of people were having a serious conversation.

And then the voices faded and someone's warm hand touched mine. I tried to open my eyes but for some reason my eyelids were heavy.

"What do you think is going on here?" A familiar voice spoke. I knew who the voice belongs to but my memories were a bit fuzzy at the moment.

"I don't know but her body is really cold." Another voice replied and I'm guessing it's the person who's holding my hand right now.

"Luhan hyung..."

My ears perked up when I heard a name that sounded too familiar to me but I had no recollection of that person's face and I wondered why.

Why couldn't I remember anything? What happened to me?

"She's been poisoned."

"Poison? When did this happen?" There were concerns in this person's voice.

What? Who could have poisoned me and why?

"They must have poisoned her when she was kidnapped. The poison takes about 3 days for it to take effect."

I had no idea who these people were but they sounded very concern about me being poisoned.

"So what are we going to do now?"

There was a moment of silence before the one holding my hand spoke. "Only a vampire with the level of strength as the Phantoms can get rid of the poison."

"Luhan hyung, you have the same level of strength as the Phantoms. Only you can get rid of the poison."

"It's not that simple." There were insecurities in his voice.

"Why not?"

"There's a catch." He tightened his grip on my hand.

"What's the catch?"

"She has to turn into a hybrid."

Did I hear it right? I thought I just heard him say I have to turn into a hybrid.

"Wait, you're joking right?" The owner of this voice raised his voice.

"I'm not. The only way to get rid of the poison is if I give her my blood, which also means she has to become like me."

They stopped talking again, maybe they were thinking about what to make of what this Luhan person had just said.

Finally a gentle voice broke the silence. "Let's try and think of other ways to save her for now. If there still isn't any other way, we'll do what Luhan said."

No way, they seriously going to turn me into a hybrid?

"What about Jaehee?"

"I'll ask Yoona sunbae to take care of her."

"Good idea."

"Alright, let's go. We'll be back by midnight and then we'll make our decision." I heard his footsteps fading away as a door opened and closed.

Several more footsteps followed after him, even the guy who held my hand earlier.

I didn't want them to leave, I tried calling for them but I couldn't find my voice.

Then I felt someone slipped their hand into mine, "I'll be sure to save you. I promise." He said then I felt a warmth on my forehead, it was quick but there was no doubt it was his lips that touched my forehead.

His warmth made me feel secure, safe and relaxed almost as if I had been waiting for his touched. Suddenly a name popped into my head.

Chanyeol?

"Wait for me, Jaehee."

I don't understand.

Why did his name popped into my head when I felt his touched? What sort of connection did we have? What was I to him? What was he to me?

The warmth of his hand was gone and the sound of his footsteps faded into thin air.

I opened my mouth to speak but I only managed to stutter. "C-Chan....yeol".

I was too late. He was already gone.
