Ch. 2

When Amethyst was just two, her mother Esperanza, gave her a necklace. The jewel was an Amethyst. When her mother gave her that necklace she told her,

"The legends are true. The myths are true. And everything we choose to believe in is right here." She pointed at Amethyst's heart.

Amethyst had worn the necklace since then. Her memory fuzzy with the events that followed after. Amethyst didn't remember much of her mother. What she did remember was that her mother was kind and loving. She would braid her blonde hair in Amethysts room, and look upon Amethyst with her blue eyes and every night she would tuck Amethyst in  she would tell her "I love you Amethyst"
And every night Amethyst would say in return, "I love you too ma".

Tucking the necklace into her shirt she headed to her first destination on the map. Mistycreek. Mistycreek was one of those cities that looked like a bunch of teens getting drunk with a whole lot of punk. It was exactly that. Every man is born with magic inside them but not everyone knows how to use it or how to make it theirs. Over time, magic became repressed and human kind called it myth. Amethyst knew better, she knew these things existed. "All the legends are true" her mothers voice echoed in the back of her head.

It was just before midnight when she arrived at Mistycreek. After walking through the city, Amethyst finally found a motel. Taking her map out the purple dome across from the motel began to glow, which meant it was her next destination. She walked to the reception pulling out cash.

"Hi there, I wanted to check in."

What's ya name girl?" She asked, exhaling her cigarette right to Amethyst's face.

"Andrea Reynolds"

"I asked yu ya name"

"It's Andrea Reynolds" she said laughing incredulously.

"Look kid. We ain't stupid round here. I know a lie when it come outta tha filthy mouth. Just gimme ya name, age, and how long ya gonna be stayin here for", she said flicking her cigarette.

"Amethyst Reynolds, 19, I'll let you know when I'm ready to go." Flipping her blue hair she handed Amethyst the keys.

"Welcome to the Shack, Enjoy your stay," she said monotonously.

Room 266. Who would've thought the crusty wooden place would have room numbers that high. Even the elevator was made of wood. As she got into the elevator  a man smiled at her.

"You tired?"

"It looks that bad?" She said laughing.

"Well the rainy hair and the soaking clothes add to the bags under your eyes."

Amethyst laughed genuinely for the first time in a while.

"What's your name?" She asked

"Jace"

"I'm Amethyst"

"That's a beautiful name" he said.

She smiled getting out of the elevator and reading the numbers. Funny enough Jace followed her.

"So why is your hair brown?" She asked. Almost everyone she saw today had their hair dyed every possible shade.

"Yours is too"

"Well I'm not from here"

"Neither am I" he chuckled.

"Are you following me?" She asked

"No I'm at room number 267"

"Just my luck she said rolling her eyes" her smile gave in anyways.
