The new girl named Ella

Dawn's POV

Today is like any normal day. The squad and I are getting ready for school. Mom drives us to school. Mae won't be joining us because she's giving a new student a tour.

When we get to school, we tell mom we love her and head into the building. We got to our lockers to drop our stuff off. When we're done, the guys and I get together and head for our first class. We see Mae on the way standing next to a girl.

"Hi Mae," I say.

"Hi guys," she replies.

"Who's this?" Nicky asks. He's gesturing to the girl standing next to Mae.

"Guys, I'd like you to meet Ella," Mae replies. "She's my cousin and she's new here."

"Hi," the guys and I say.

"I'm Dawn, and these are my brothers, Nicky, Ricky, and Dicky," I say. "We're quads."

"Cool," Ella says.

"Is your name short for something?" Ricky questions. "Isabella? Gabriella? Daniela?"

"Cinderella!" Dicky exclaims.

"Gabriella," Ella replies.

"Cool," Ricky says.

The bell rings, and we all go to class. At lunch, Mae invites Ella to sit with us.

"So where are you from?" Ricky asks.

"Duh Ricky," Dicky says. "She lives with her evil stepmother and evil stepsisters. Haven't you heard of Cinderella?"

"Her name isn't Cinderella, Dicky," Mae says. "It's Ella."

"Short for Cinderella," Dicky says.

Mae rolls her eyes. I turn to face Ella.

"Do you wanna come over sometime?" I ask.

"Sure!" Ella says.

"So where are you from?" Nicky asks. He has so much interest in his eyes.

Ella smiles and says, "I'm from Houston."

"Texas?" Ricky says. "That's so cool!"

"Yep," she says.

"Do you have any siblings?" Nicky asks.

"How mean are your sisters? Do they make you clean the whole house?" Dicky asks.

"Guys," I say. "Stop asking her so many questions. She just got here."

"Sorry," Dicky and Nicky say.

"It's fine," Ella replies. "I can't wait to get to know you guys. This is so cool!"

Yep. I couldn't agree more.

When we get home, we put our backpacks on the table and sit around the dining room table.

"How was school today?" Mom asks as she takes our backpacks.

"Great!" I say. "We met a new girl at school."

"Yeah," Nicky says. "She's Mae's cousin, and she's really pretty."

"Ooh!" Mom says. "Someone's in love!"

"I'm not in love," Nicky says. "I just met her, and we're just friends."

"Her name is Cinderella," Dicky says. "But she goes by Ella."

"Actually, it's Gabriella," Ricky says.

"No it's not," Dicky argues. "She's just trying to protect her evil stepmother from being arrested. Such a kind heart."

"Great," Mom says.

"I invited her to come over sometime," I say.

"Well, that's very nice of you Dawn," Mom says.

"Where's dad?" Ricky asks.

"At the store," mom replies. "I'm going there right now. You guys can join me if you don't have homework."

"I do," I say. It's Math. I love math!

"Me too," Ricky says. "Science."

"I don't, but I'm just gonna act like I do," Dicky says. Then he goes to his room.

"No one wants to come with?" Mom says, faking a sad face.

"I do. And I don't have homework," Nicky says.

"That's why I love you the most!" Mom says, hugging him.

"Hey!" Ricky and I say.

"Just kidding," Mom says. "I love all my babies."

After she and Nicky leave, I do my homework, and Ricky does his homework. I don't what Dicky is doing. That brother of mine is weird.
