This was turning out to be one of the longest days in history. Normally, Norman loved going to comic cons and meeting his fans. Without them, he wouldn't be where he was today. They were what drove the Boondock Saints movies to be the cult hit it had become. He thought he'd be identified as Murphy McManus his whole life, but that was until The Walking Dead came along and changed everything. He was Daryl Dixon, the brooding, redneck loner which started as a small role but now was the fan-favorite character of the show season after season.
The Walking Dead had changed his life dramatically, but it didn't change him. He moved from his small apartment to the upper-level penthouse, but he stayed in the same building. He still took his son to school whenever he could and his garage in Georgia now housed several cars and motorcycles. But his friends remained the same and he knew not to let fame get to him. He was smart enough to know that as quickly as it came, it could go in a flash. Keeping himself grounded meant keeping a firm grasp on reality.
And his reality right now was the thousands of fans waiting to see him. He had always looked forward to this particular con every year. Norman was just as popular overseas as he was back home in the states. Coming here also gave him a chance to see Andy Lincoln again.
The two of them were best friends on set. But when filming was over, Andy flew home to be with his family in England and this event always gave them a chance to reconnect.
Norman took a quick look at the crowd surrounding his table. The line seemed to go on forever and ever. His fans loved him and he loved them back just as much. He really enjoyed events like this, but today was simply dragging.
Autographs by the thousands, not hundreds...but thousands happened every day at these cons. He was starting to feel the start of a cramp in his hand and there was still a long line of fans to go. Earlier had been the photo ops. He liked them the best. He loved being as kooky and crazy as his fans were. Whatever they wanted him to do, he usually always had fun doing it. Some of the poses they came up with were quite creative and he got a kick out of them.
Now, all he had to do was finish up these autographs and he was done. Last night he had stayed until almost eleven o'clock signing for fan after fan, but not today. This was the last day of Walker Stalker and he was bound and determined to get out by five. He was probably going to have to turn fans away, but he couldn't help it. He had plans.
He was finally going to see Nikki again.
It had been well over a month since he had seen her, closer to six weeks actually. She had gone on tour and with his busy schedule, they were never in the same place at the same time. It was frustrating them both, as nothing brought them even close to each other, until this weekend.
Who would have thought they both would have to be in London, England to get together again?
They had kept in touch all these weeks unlike last time. Norman had enjoyed his time with Nikki way too much to let what they had simply drop. He had done that after their one night in New York but regretted it now. The time he had spent with Nikki in Chicago was incredible. In her, he found a woman he really liked and could have fun with. She didn't need him to further her career as she was extremely successful all on her own.
