Beeping echoed through my ears and I groaned, it couldn't be time to get up for class already... could it? My hand stretched out across the bed and hit down on where my alarm clock usually was. However, my hand meet thin air. I crinkled my nose, wondering where it was. I definitely didn't move it, so where am I?
Now that I thought of it, I couldn't feel my tight dress on me either instead I felt as if I was wearing something loose and light. The... thing I was wearing was highly starched making it uncomfortable to wear. Plus, my arse seemed awful cold. Like it was exposed or something like that. I racked my brain trying to think what it could be but my memory was fuzzy. I shuffled around the bed a bit trying to make myself more comfortable but to no avail. "Oh my God, she's waking up. Nick get the doctor or the nurse or- or... just get someone for God's sake" someone called out. I recognised the voice as Vicki's. I breathed a sigh of relief. At least she was here.
Her voice was too loud and it felt like she were nearly screaming in my ear. I groaned and tried to tell her to shut up but nothing execpt gibberish and occasional groans came out of my mouth.
I heard the hurried shuffle of feet and the slam of the door. The patter of feet echoed through the hall and I groaned, rather loudly, once again. I quickly opened one of my eyes and looked around me. I carefully opened the other eye wondering where I was. One thing was for sure, I definitely wasn't in my room in my dorm. My dorm room was a small, yet cosy room.
This room was white, making the room have a cold and sterile feel. The furnishings were a dull green and overall the room looked pretty depressing. How delightful!
My eye sight was sharp. I could see stuff that I usually wouldn't, even with my contacts in. I saw the black scuff that a pair of shoes made opposite a kiddies chair. I could see a small lump of rotten petals on the windowsill, beside a dry and uncared for rose plant.
Vicki was sitting beside me, her hand desperately clutched my mine. Her hair was drawn back into a tight bun at the back of her head. It was a stark contrast to her usual loose waves. Dark bags shadowed her eyes and her skin has taken on a sickly pale tone. She looked awful. Perhaps she should be the one in bed, not me? "Are you okay? How do you feel? Are you tired? Are you dizzy? Do you feel sick?". She kept firing questions at me and I softly laughed. My throat ached so I abruptly stopped. She paled her hand on my forehead and frowned. "You're awfully cold, should I bring in a few more duvets to warm you up?"
"Maybe because my arse is flippin' freezing?" I replied, cracking a smile. She smiled lightly, her cracked lips straining. She lips them in a sad effort to moisturise them.
Vicki snapped her attention to Nick as he entered with a doctor. The doctor was a young man with brown hair and tanned skin. He smiled warmly but it didn't quite reach his eyes. "Why am I here?" I asked. I didn't feel like there was anything wrong with me. Sure, I felt slightly drained or weak but that could be easily fixed. The doctor shot me a worried glance. I looked over to Nick and Vicki to see if they would tell me but they were looking at me with the same pitiful, worried expression.
"Can you please recall anything you remember that occurred on the night of Saturday the 12th of January" he asked. The twelfth was yesterday, right? Oh god, don't tell me I've got amnesia or something. I've watched that film, 50 first dates, I don't want to have to deal with that.
"I can remember going to a club with Vicki and Nick and a few other friends. At" I thought back, I remember taking out my phone and checking the time, it was nearly 3 am. "At nearly 3 am I headed come. I met a guy and I thought he was going to hit me, but he was actually just calling someone. Then I started to hurry home, because it was cold and then I- I-" I tried to think back but my mind went blank. "I can't remember what happened next" I whispered. Vicki let out a sigh and ran a had through her hair, making pieces fall out of her bun.
