It was getting close to noon in New York City and Norman was still dressed in an old worn pair of jeans and no shirt. His hair hadn't been tamed since the day before and was sticking up in all directions. He was at home so he didn't care how he looked. Hell, half the time he went out in public he didn't care either.
He padded across the dark wood floor towards his kitchen to get something to drink. A shower and some clean clothes were on his agenda, but he just hadn't gotten to that yet. He had slept in that morning because for a change his calendar today had only one item in it – Nikki. She was finally flying to him. One more show and her tour would be over. Then they could be together whenever they wanted. No more one-night rendezvouses in strange cities. She was on her way to his home so they could start a real relationship.
Halle-fucking-lujah!
He grabbed a can of Coke out of the fridge and popped the top. After a long, slow swallow his eye caught the time on the microwave. It made him smile. Nikki should be arriving at the airport in about three hours and then maybe another hour and a half after that, depending on traffic, she would get to his building...finally. Norman didn't know the last time he felt like this. He was so happy that he was nervous at the same time. Once he could admit to himself and then to her that he had fallen in love with her, she was all he ever thought about.
Mingus had dropped over just that morning and teased him non-stop about her. When his father yelled at him for leaving an empty can of soda on the kitchen counter, Mingus burst out laughing. That was when he brought up the flower arrangement that was on the table and the fact that the place was cleaner than it had even been, meant that his dad was a head over heels for Nikki.
Norman had finally confided to his son about her when he got back from L.A. The paparazzi had wasted no time in getting the pictures of him and Nikki kissing out to the media. It made all the evening entertainment news programs, TMZ, and social media before his plane even touched down on New York soil.
His phone was blowing up when he turned it back on. He had over a dozen missed calls and even more text messages waiting for him. However, his first call was to his son to explain what was going on. Mingus was happy for his father, who hadn't been in a relationship for a while but laughed at him for getting caught making out in public. Something his father told him never to do since he was the kid of two famous parents. He had ignored his own advice and he and Nikki were the talk of the entertainment industry. The bad boy actor and the darling of the classical musical world had hooked up.
A blush had spread across Norman's face being confronted with the truth by his seventeen-year-old son. Mingus was right. Norman had hired a cleaning service to make the place sparkle. He had also bought flowers and filled the fridge with food. This was more than he had ever done for any other woman. Nikki controlled his every waking thought and many of his night time ones too. With her coming to New York and her tour ending tomorrow night, it meant that they could spend more than a night together. She was going to live with him in New York. He was excited to see her again, yet he was also a little bit afraid
