"You're really good at that Doni." I complimented him as his fists rotated in rounds against the speed bag.
"Thanks, champ! After this, you can try it if you'd like."
"I think I will, let me just take my insulin-"
"Insulin? What're you taking insulin for?" His orbs shot over to me, palms cussing the bag, causing it to stop.
"I didn't tell you?" I lifted my brow.
"Tell me what?"
A sigh evaded my lips as I patted the spot directly next to me on the edge of the boxing ring. He advanced over, sitting down.
"So, what's up?"
"Remember how I told you that I had human immunodeficiency virus before?"
"How could I forget?"
"Well..a few months ago, I fell out at the studio with my girlfriend and her client to witness. Long story short, I was kindly informed that the abhorrent disease the coach infected me with had returned within my anatomy, and um..it's extremely aggressive. The insulin I take is lethal, so that's why I'd been put on field leave because the insulin is very strenuous on my body. Um, they think that I only have a little while left.." I enlightened him.
"Until it progresses to AIDS?"
A chuckle skimmed my lips.
"You sound exactly like I did when I asked the doctor the exact same question, but no Doni," I placed my palm upon his shoulder. "To live."
Silence had becometh of the atmosphere this early morning at the boxing ring. Just us two and my aired out laundry. I didn't expect Adonis to be completely open on the news I delayed him, I actually didn't expect a thing of him. Because, placing expectation into someone only sets oneself up for failure. No one person is perfect, so do not expect them to be.
"Literally, I can't find words to respond correctly..I just-I- can I give you a hug?"
His pupils found mine, glossing over. We were always so connected emotionally to one another because we'd been through things together. At our highs and lows we were always there to comfort one another as best friends should. Never degrading each other for our feelings. And that's one of the very reasons why I loved him like my own flesh and blood brother. Biology couldn't make him any less of my sibling.
"If you'd please, than I shall grant you that access. Come." I beckoned him to me.
I consoled him which was comical seeing as I'm the one with the illness, yet he's the one misty eyed.
