Ella's POV
I'm carpooling with Mae to school today. Her mom is one of my favorite aunts. When we get to school, we meet up with Dawn and her brothers.
Dicky hands me something. "I was bored yesterday and made this for you. Don't let your stepmother see it."
It's a bracelet made with colored construction paper. It's actually really pretty.
"Thanks Dicky," I say. I take and try to put it on, but then it rips. "Oh no! I'm so sorry!"
"It's fine," he says. "It took me only 3 hours to make."
I laugh a little. But I'm actually sad that the bracelet is ruined.
"So you're coming over today, right?" Dawn asks.
"Yep," I say.
After school, I carpool with the Harpers. Dawn sits in the front seat, and I sit next to Nicky.
"So, how do you like Denver so far?" he asks.
"It's really cool," I say. He smiles at me. His has cute dimples.
Dawn and I do our homework together in her room. Her mom brings us some lemonade.
"Drink up girls," she says.
"Thanks Mrs. Harper," I say.
"Anytime Cinder- I mean Ella," she says.
"It's Dicky, isn't it?" Dawn asks.
"Yep. That brother of yours is something. Bye girls," she says.
After she leaves, Dawn turns, to me.
"Wanna have a sleep over tomorrow?" she asks. "Mae will be there. You can join us if you want."
"OK," I say.
When it's time for me to leave, I give Dawn a hug.
"Bye Dawn," I say.
"Bye Ella," she says.
Dicky gives me a hug. "Bye Cinderella. I hope your stepmother will spare you tonight."
Then he winks at me. I giggle. "Okay Dicky. Thanks."
Ricky gives me a hug too and says bye. Then it's Nicky's turn. When he hugs me, I feel an electric shock shock go through me. After we break the hug, we, stare at each other for a long time, then he finally says goodbye.
That night, I go home feeling happy and flattered.
