An R&B song was blasting through the speakers while sweaty bodies and intoxicated girls were grinding on guys since I had put my feet in that place. It seemed like every night, every weekend, was the same setting. Songs I didn't know kept playing at a tremendous volume, frat guys hitting on drunk girls, some people playing pool in the back while others were chatting by the counter at the bar. It was a classic Irish bar, the only place in that small town that offered cheap drinks and beer that very much pleased our college student's pocket. Although I was a big fan of alcohol, I felt very much out of my comfort zone when I went out, but Lauren made me come and you just can't say no to Lauren Jauregui. It was a 'girls night out', as she put it, but none of our other friends could be there, so it was just me and her. I felt reluctant at first, because although I could use some fun after an intense week of studying and Lauren was one of my best friends, it would be the first time we would be together alone in a place like that. Because she wasn't only my best friend, she was my first love and very much straight.

"Y/N, I'll grab some drinks for us, what do you want? Beer or well?"

"Sure. Uhh- the cheapest, Laur. Always the cheapest." Lauren let out an iconic laugh because of my statement, one of those that made me fall for her in the first place.

"Okay, I'll get you the cheapest. Just wait for me here. Don't move."

Lauren made her way to the bar while I sat by the DJ table waiting for her return. I watched her move through the crowd like I always have, you have no idea what that girl could make you feel. I'd always wanted her, in every sense of the word and it was getting harder every day to keep pretending I didn't feel the way I felt towards her.

I was lost in my thoughts thinking of how screwed I was for being one of that classic gay girls in love with their straight best friend, when I noticed some guy leaning too close to Lauren by the counter. That would just be the cherry on top of the cake, watch some random guy shove his tongue in Lauren's throat while I watched it when I didn't even wanted to come in the first place, but I tried not to think much of it, it wasn't Lauren's obligation to control what she was doing because of my feelings, feelings she didn't even know I had. Five minutes later she came back carrying one cup in each hand.

"Gosh, did you see that? That fucking guy won't leave me alone, like, he hit on me when I was in the bathroom line and now at the bar."

"Yeah I saw that, it's probably your eyes that got him hypnotized or something."

"Yea, probably." She then gave me a smirk that made my knees go weak. There was something about being that close to her especially with alcohol involved, where I had to control every atom in my body not to jump on her and do what I'd always wanted.

Three drinks later it was my turn to go get us some more. I was leaning against the counter when I saw the same guy pass by me towards Lauren's direction. I followed him with my gaze and watched them interact for a while. Even though he was a good looking guy, Lauren seemed very annoyed by him and I couldn't thank more the gods or whatever for that. There would be no display of hetero tongue fight in front of me that night. But that fucker was persistent. I couldn't blame him though, it's not everyday that you see someone like Lauren walk into the bar seemingly available to whoever has the balls to come up to her. The balls I never had, and that made my alcohol filled blood boil inside my veins. If I couldn't have Lauren, that asshole wouldn't either. I approached the two of them with our drinks and an idea in the back of my mind.

"Hey babe, I got what you asked me."

"Oh, hi, babe?! Thanks." I handed Lauren her drink as I kissed her cheek and held her free hand interlocking our fingers.

"And you might be?"

"Oh, I'm Alex, nice to meet you!"

"Y/N!" I would totally shake his hand if mine were free but I guess that wouldn't be happening today.
