It all started the night of the full moon. Adley and Jason were hunting an Alpha. One of the most dangerous Alphas in the supernatural world. If Adley hadn't missed the arrow, history wouldn't have been made. Adley never missed. The Alpha growled running towards Adley. She shot another but she missed.
"Run!" Adley screamed. The Alpha held his claws at her throat. She heard what werewolves do to hunters when they catch them. But she never believed she would be caught. Because she was Adley and Adley never missed. She prepared herself for the pain as his claws sank deeper into her skin.
"Jason, run!"
Jason didn't want to leave her. He couldn't leave her.
"I'm not leaving you." Picking up his rifle he fired at the beast. The Alpha should have been dead. But it was no ordinary Alpha.
"I love you, Adley"
Those were his last words to her as a human. He flung himself onto the beast.
He heard Adley scream. Her scream echoed through his ears as the beast's fangs sank into his skin.
And this time it was he who screamed "Run!"
The werewolf had already bitten him.
"Shhhh. It's gone now. Do you hear me Jason? You're going to be okay." Adley sobbed.
"Get away from me" he growled.
"I choose us remember? Forget about the rules. You're not going to hurt me Jace."
"I can smell your fear. I'm dangerous Adley. You know I am. We're werewolf hunters. I was a werewolf hunter. This is what we do. Listen to me Add, I need you to kill me. I don't want to hurt you."
"I'm not going to kill you Jason."
"Why? All the werewolves we've hunted, they were just like me. Adley I know you can do it. I need you to kill me."
Adley took a step closer to Jason. Stroking his cheek. But she wasn't just another hunter and he wasn't just another werewolf. She couldn't kill her first love. And so the rain fell hard that night, and Adley knew it was the perfect time. The perfect time for two souls to merge. Stroking his cheek, she gave him all she had under the moon and under the rain.
And so the hunter gave the monster all she had, and the monster became human again.
