The party has been goin' great so far. Alana looks beautiful laughin' and talkin' with everyone from the ranch. I'm standin' with Trace and Caleb, pretendin' to be talkin' to them, but all I can focus on is her.
She's dancin' and laughin' with Sarah, MaryAnn and Bailey. I smile at how well she gets along with her sister. I say goodbye to the guys and make my way over to them.
"Travis!" Bailey yells as she sees me walkin' over, holdin' her arms out to me. I laugh and take her hands, movin' my hips as we sway to the country music that's pumpin' from the speakers. I take her hand, twirlin' her away from me, then pullin' her back in. She looses it laughin', her cheeks becoming more and more red with all the movement and the hot summer night. I'm laughin' right along with her as the song ends and another comes on.
It's a slow song. I glance up to find Alana watchin' me, a big smile on her face. I turn back to Bailey, and lean down slightly.
"I'm goin' to dance with Alana now, okay?" I ask.
"Okay," she says with a bright smile on her face as she hurries off to play with the dogs that have come with their owners.
I straighten and nervously walk up to Alana, holdin' out my hand to her. "Would you like to dance?" I ask softly, "Do I" by Luke Bryan playin' in the background.
She smiles and places her hand into mine, lettin' me pull her close to me. I swallow and look down into her eyes as I gently place my hands on her waist. She smiles at me and slides her hands up around my neck. Our bodies sway together to the music, and I feel completely at peace in this moment. She leans her head against my chest, and all I can think about is how loud my heart must sound in her ear.
Fireworks being set off make her jump, and I laugh and look up in the sky at all the different colors, everyone else around us doin' the same. I'm still smilin' when I look down at her, only to find her lookin' back at me.
"Alana?" I whisper.
"Yes?" she whispers back.
"Can I kiss you now?" I ask as I slide my hand up to her cheek, startin' to lean down to her.
"Yes," she breaths, tippin' her head back, meetin' my lips with her own. I kiss her softly and gently, hopin' that time could stop and we could stay in this moment forever.
A firework explodes above our heads and I smile against her lips, pullin' back away from her, but still holdin' her tightly in my arms.
"Let's go for a walk," she says softly, takin' my hand in hers. We walk away from the party and down the dirt road, hand-in-hand.
I look down at my feet as we walk, wonderin' what I'm supposed to say. "Is this goin' to be a thing now?" I ask softly.
"Do you want it to be?" she asks, glancin' up at me.
"Of course I do. You're beautiful Alana," I tell her, lookin' into her eyes.
She smiles and blushes slightly. "Okay then," she says, lookin' down.
We walk for a few more minutes in silence, our hands pressed tightly together.
"We should probably head back. Who knows what they're thinkin'," I say in a teasin' tone. She laughs and shakes her head.
"Wouldn't want to start any rumors, would we?" she asks.
"Certainly not," I scoff.
She laughs as we turn back around, just enjoyin' each other's company as we slowly walk back to the party.
I pull my eyebrows together when I see blue lights flashin' that aren't from the fireworks. Alana and I both pick up our pace once we realize that it's the lights from a police car. We can hear people yellin' closer to the tent that we had brought, so we both hurry over.
