Chapter Six

Kayla exited and looked around. There was a small screen floating in front of her. On a white background in blue lettering read her objective: Find your teammates without being immobilized by a member of the opposing team....or by what lurks in the forest.

Smiling Kayla couldn't believe her luck. She whispered the words that would call together lost comrades, blinking once she was standing next to Jorge.  The boy looked shocked when Kayla popped up next to him and he sent a paralyzing pulse from his left hand.  She side stepped his attack and gave him a push with her forearm.

Kaylas was sure Jorge was freaking out, the last thing he expected was to be standing next to someone that wasn't one of his mates.  He didn't even know the objectives before the tall skinny guy with bleach blond hair and blotchy yellow skin attacked him.  He raised his hand and waved the paralyzing spell away,

“I have a 75% power level. No way I’m going to let anyone beat me. Not even someone that thinks their an elite,” he said before he pushed it to the side.  He started to send another stronger pulse when Jorge, sent a rock into the back of the guy’s head knocking him out with just a thought.  “That was courtesy of my father. He hay only be a  merchant but he is a great man.”

Kayla was looking around now and she saw they were in a domed arena that had no beginning and no end with a ceiling meant to replicate the sky.  The space looked like pictures she'd seen of Ah'Taria's rainforest. Everyone in the solar system at one time would have had to see pictures of the lush forest.  They learned about  the beauty and of the carnivorous animals and plants there.

Kayla ignored the unconscious blond and grabbed hold of Jorge's blazer then whispered the spell that would call together lost comrades. With a blink she and Jorge were standing behind Gloria and staring at the biggest, nastiest reptile. Kayla was sure she never wanted to see another thing like it..

Gloria was terrified witless as she was using a paralyzing spell on the giant moñái.  She was so scared she couldn't scream when it's huge head full of razor sharp teeth and 12 foot snake-like  body surged from the ground. Even in fear she threw up her hands and spoke the words to freeze it but it didn’t completely freeze. It’s giant head was twisting;  huge teeth were snapping viciously at the air.  If it wasn't for the fact she had the stone to boost her powers she was sure the thing would be eating her as a snack. She was too scared to even turn around to see who had whizzed in behind her

"Brule en enfer!"  Jorge created a powerful fireball and sent it straight into the giant lizard.  It let out a piercing scream before it exploded with nasty burning chunks of skin, guts, blood and teeth going every which way.  Jorge, Gloria and Kayla were filthy. Even with using a shield spell they were covered in the green and red carnage.  To make it worse there was no way the remaining first years hadn't heard the horrible shriek or the ear busting explosion. In case they missed those they couldn't have missed the ground shaking beneath them.

Running towards Gloria with her grip still on Jorge's fire blue blazer Kayla  pulled him like her life depended on it. Next she did something her mother told her never to do, she spoke the spell out loud that would hopefully send them far enough away from the explosion and to another comrade. "à mes amis!"

Kayla was super pissed when instead of being transported to their comrades all their comrade appeared around them. Ebony turned with a bewildered look on her face but immediately took action as she could hear at least fifteen separate footsteps coming towards them.

"We need to move!" she said loudly as she started to walk quickly in the opposite direction of the footsteps.

“Where’d they go?” Alex asked as he and Quaid looked around confused. “We had just found each other. My power level was 68%. With Quaid's being 72% we had hoped we could outsmart the Rayians.” They both headed off in the same direction as Ebony with Kayla, with Gloria and Jorge taking up the rear.  When they entered the foliage they heard Gloria mumble a spell to hide their tracks, while Jorge completed a spell that hid the initial spell from detection.
