-Annie! Come here! You have to lunch!
-Seriously? Annie left the flowers, that she had taken before her Mom's arrival.
-Yes! Would you come, please? Daddy can not wait for more time! He has to go work!
-Okay, Mom! I will go...But I want to play! Can I? Her Mom smiled, and after she said to her daughter these words: after the lunch Annie. After the lunch...
Annie loved to play in Mrs. Brainworth's garden, because this woman was an old rich lady who always had a smile in her face. She was really happy, in spite of her husband had dead in the war years ago, and they had not had children during their marriage. However, Mrs. Brainworth was not totally alone...She had with her during the summer, because during the school year the boy was living in a boarding school, a grandnephew! His name was Adrian, and he had lost his parents a cause of an driving accident.
-Are you well today, darling? Asked the man to his young daughter, because she did not say anything that midday, and she loved to speak at whatever time and with everyone.
-Oh no George! -Started Mummy to laugh suddenly-There is only a problem: maybe Annie does not want to go to school, don't you? Annie started to laugh too. Mummy had solved the mystery!
-Yes...But you have said me that I could play in the garden after the lunch, Mummy, don't you?
-Yes, I have said you that, certainly...I have forgotten it! Why? Wondered the woman while her family was eating meat and mashed potato.
-Can I, Daddy?
-Yes, you can. But you have to eat before, naughty girl! Your mom have already said the same and I am going to work quickly! Frances, could you bring me my briefcase, please? Daddy asked to the housekeeper, who was a kind and intelligent woman, who was working with the family since Annie's grandfather was a young man.
-Here is, Mister Bradley. Have a nice afternoon, Mister Bradley. Miss Anne,-explained Frances-have you not finished the meal? The rest of girls do not waste time, and they do not talk at the table neither, little girl!
-Do you know "The rest of girls", Frances? Because I don't! Laughed Annie.
-Naughty girl...
Annie was an healthy, eleven year old and blond and curly-hair girl. Her eyes had the same colour that the sky, and her smile seemed a painting. Her passion was collecting flowers and postcards, about flowers and big cities like London, but Annie had a secret that anyone knew: the fairies were real! In the world, there were fairy tales because someone had known the fairies! The pity was that adults did not believe in fairies like children. Conversely, they always punish their children, if they do not say all what parents want to hear.
-I have just finished my lunch! Can I go to play before classes, Mummy? Annie hugged her Mom.
-Let me think...Yes, little lady! But do not delay! The Sisters and Mister Brown do not wait naughty girls!
-Why all people call me "naughty girl? If I do not make jokes...I do not understand adults! Wondered Annie while she was walking towards Mrs. Brainworth's garden. She had decided that she did not want to play in her own garden, but she wanted to play in her neighbour's garden. It was only in the city! No one had a similar piece of land. No one. And the best thing was that Mrs. Brainworth allowed Annie going to play whenever she wanted!
