I woke up in the cot we have for sick members of the team, regained my senses, and bolted upwards.
"SOPHIA!"
"Easy, easy." Mary said, placing me back down. "Sophia isn't here."
"I saw her! She was screaming!"
Elijah walked in, and sighed in relief. "Thank goodness you're okay. I-"
I stood upwards, ignoring Mary's protests and the spinning sensation in my head. "Elijah, I saw Sophia, she was hurt, she was screaming. We have to go-"
"Go where?"
"Go... go to..." My voice died down. Where had I seen her? "Some... where..."
Harry entered. "Couldn't help but hear the commotion, but if you don't know where she is, I advise you to rest until you do."
I scowled. "She's hurting. My best friend is hurting. I'm not just going to sit here and let that happen."
"None of us want to, but we have to think practically." Harry said.
Now I was angry. "I'll think practically when my Sophia is back at our side."
"Anji, please." Elijah tried to reason with me.
I looked at him, the fire in my eyes dying slightly. "She's out there, somewhere."
Mary stood up. I hadn't noticed she had been so pale until I looked properly. "We know, Anji. We want her back too. It hurts our hearts to see that she's missing, but she wouldn't want us to just charge in with no game plan on how to get her back."
Finally, I nodded. "Sorry I was so stubborn."
They accepted my apologies. Soon, everyone was in the planning room, having a discussion.
"Did you see any surroundings?" Lucas asked. "When you saw her face?"
I nodded. "It looked like an abandoned warehouse, though I can't be completely sure."
Gabe walked in, looking nervous. His eyes had turned into a bright green, which looked strange on him. His brown hair looked darker in the lighting, but I was sure it was just me.
"Gabe, your hair looks darker." Chloe observed. Okay, so it wasn't just me.
"Oh, does it?" His voice.... it was surlier.
"Your voice is different, too." I say.
"Probably because I've been crying over my missing fiancée, any leads?" He asked, making eye contact with no one.
"Gabe, tell us the truth. Something is off, we aren't idiots." Harry frowned, his hand intertwined with Chloe's.
"Truth? What truth? I'm trying out new looks while Sophia is gone so I can surprise her when she comes back." Gabe scoffed.
Sherlock stood up immediately, bumping a sleeping Lydia in Mary's arms. "You're not Gabriel."
Now Gabe- or whoever he was- looked pale and sweaty. "Sherlock! Buddy! Listen to yourself! Remember all the double dates we've been on together?" He gave an unconvincing smile.
"Gabe's scoffs sound like an amused laugh, you just sounded like an angry badger. I should know, I've encountered one."
Gabe stood up, and I noticed his long head was shrinking from an oval to a circle. "I don't know what you're talking about, I just had a tickle in my throat-"
Seizing the opportunity, Mary threw a knife, and pinned Gabe's shirt to the wall. Soon, we were standing around him as his features melted away.
Instead of Gabe, there was a man with short black hair, bright green eyes, and a muscular body. He had a strong jawbone, which was currently set in a scowl.
"Who was it?" He snarled. "Who put the truth detector in my candy?"
Chloe smiled and waved. "Guilty as charged!"
"That's my girl." Harry kissed her cheek.
"Wait, what?" I asked.
"Gabe hasn't been acting like himself, so I sabotaged his candy stash with a truth detector. Good thing I did, too!"
"Nice work! Now, who are you? Where's Sophia?" I asked, putting my hand up to his throat.
"Easy, sunshine." He pushed my hand downwards. "Not telling you where she is, it's for the worlds safety. After I wipe Gabe's memories, things will be fine again."
"What?! Maybe for you!" I screech.
"MICHEAL!" Mary yelled.
"That's my cue!" With a poof of smoke, he was gone.
