The flock landed in the woods far from where they were attacked by the helicopter and men in black army-like suits. The sky was filled with twinkling stars.
Peter looked up at them and remembered the day he was a little boy and saw the stars sparkling down below his older brother and himself. He told his brother that the stars were everyone's guardian angels watching over sleeping children. Ready to proctect and help a children who needed them the most. His brother had laughed at him and told him that stars weren't angels and would never be.
"Now what do we do?" Keno finally asked.
"Hero said to show the world how beautiful avians really are," Autumn replied.
"Then let's just show the world how beautiful we are," Luna said.
"But what if we got caught by those people in the black army suits just like Hero?" Sol cautioned.
"Then we'll beat them till they go crying to their mothers," Luna replied cracking her knuckles.
"I agree with Luna. We'll beat them up and show them who's boss," Rowan snickered.
"No. There are probably more than just ten of them. There are probably at the least around thirty of them," Ray said watching the stars shimmer.
"We'd better set up camp for tonight," Skylar said softly to everyone else.
"I'll help set up camp," Aisha volunteered.
"I will too," Ayame said standing up.
"I'm going to sleep," Naxtern said as he laid down on the ground.
"I guess we should all get some rest. We got a long day ahead of us," Kaheryn said as she stretched her wings before laying down.
"Goodnight everyone," Katie said before shutting her eyes.
"Sweet dreams everyone," Sapphy replied. Everyone went to sleep except for Ray and SkyBird.
"Do you want to take a night fly with me?" SkyBird asked Ray. Ray smiled and nodded. They both silently flew from their camp and into the dark blue sky. The moon looked like a shiny gold coin in the big sky. The stars danced as SkyBird and Ray soared in the big ocean of a sky. Some pigeons flew under them.
"Look. A shooting star," Ray pointed as a star fell.
"You should make a wish," SkyBird said with a smile as she watched the star flew across the sky.
"Ok," Ray said as she closed her eyes and whispered out a wish.
"Now remember you can't tell anyone your wish or else it won't come true," SkyBird told Ray. Ray nodded.
I woke up and felt the cold ground underneath me. I was in a room. There was a bed, a bathroom, and a few books. There were no windows. I looked down and saw that I was wearing some kind of hospital top and shorts that people usually only see in movies.
"Well at least I'm not in a dog crate," I said to myself remebering the Maximum Ride series. I looed around the room. The walls were steel, no windows, and the floor was concrete. I tried to think of a way to escape. Nothing came to my head.
"I wonder how everyone else is doing," I said to myself still trying to think of ways to escape.
The sun rose like a diamond in the sky. SkyBird and Ray returned to the camp and got some sleep before everyone woke up.
"Now what?" Rowan asked yawning.
"I don't know," Katie replied shrugging.
"We should probably move before any of those people in the black army suits find us," Sapphy suggested.
"Sounds like a good idea," Naxtern answered. Autumn and Keno nodded in agreement.
"Where do we go?" Ayame asked.
"I don't know," Sapphy admitted.
"Why don't we just go where the wind takes us," Aisha answered.
"Sounds like a good idea," Katheryn said with a smile.
"Then lets get going!" Sol shouted cheerfully while grabbing Luna's arm.
"Right," Sapphy answered. They all outsretched their wings and took off. Autumn carried Keno like always. The sun shimmered above then making their wings sparkle. It made them glow a bit. Anyone who saw them could probably easily mistaken them for angels. Peter looked over at SkyBird. SkyBird still was mourning over what had happened last night. Peter frowned feeling the pain SkyBird must be going through.
"It will be okay," Peter said softly to SkyBird.
"How?" SkyBird replied in a whisper.
"We're going to get her back. I promise," Peter replied.
"How can you be so sure?" Ray asked overhearing the conversation.
"I can just feel it. We will get Hero back. I just know it," Peter answered.
"And what if something goes wrong?" Ray asked crossing her arms.
"Then at least we can say we all tried," Peter replied looking straight in Ray's eyes. Ray saw the determination in his eyes.
"What if we die?" SkyBird asked very quietly.
"Then we die together. We die as a flock. The flock," Peter answered with determination in his voice.
"So what do you both think?" Peter asked Ray and SkyBird. SkyBird and Ray looked at each other for a moment.
"Okay but how do we convince the others?" SkyBird asked.
"I doubt anyone really wants to go back there," Ray admitted.
"True but what if you were the one who got caught? Wouldn't you want someone to come save you? I know Hero told us that she would get out and find us but still. What if she can't do this alone. Let's face it we need each other. All 16 of us need each other. We're not a flock if one or a bunch are gone," Peter said with the same fierceness SkyBird recognized. SkyBird knew that Hero would have said the same.
"Let's do this," SkyBird said wiping a few tears that had streamed down her cheeks. She gave a small smile. She closed her eyes prayed to herself that everything would turn out okay. She opened her eyes and looked up at the sky. Everything was going to be okay. It just had to be. It just had to be.
