When I got home from work, the skies were murky and a charcoal gray. As I unlocked the door to my house and went inside, I was not prepared to see the living room in such a mess. It looked as if someone had broke in. I  immediately dropped my grocery bags and ran inside, scanning the area.

"Vic! Victor?!" I yelled as I ran into the kitchen. I stopped and listened for and sound that would signal Vic was here.

My heart pounded as I heard nothing but the echoing silence. Running down the small hallway, I jumped over the overturned coffee table and opened the door to our bedroom.

Books, papers, and liquor bottles littered the floor. Our bed was a disaster. The mattress was half off of the bed frame, pillows half way slipped out of the cases and the blanket was matted. At the closet, clothes were strewn all over the floor in a messy pile. I looked over at the bathroom, the door was closed, the light on.

"Vic?! Victor? Are you in there?!" I yelled as I knocked on the door with my fist. Receiving silence as my only response, I tried to open the door, but it was locked. 

Looking around frantically, I grabbed the metal baseball bat by Vic's bedside and began beating the wooden door. 

As soon as there was a hole I could fit my hand into, I reached in and unlocked the door. Nothing would prepare me for what I was about to see...
