How do you forget,

Those memories

That forever invade your dreams

The crack of the whip

The click of a gun

My mothers screams

How do you forget,

Those words

Which shook and cracked your bones

The loss of love

The doubted doves

That can't flutter in the wind

I often think about the birds

Oh how they soar above

So free

So careless

The past merely touches them

What memories do they behold?

Two broken hearts

A murderer

A burnt and ripped book

How will life for ever go on

I often ask myself
