They pulled out a map from the shelf that stood at the end of the tent, they put it in front of us and sat back down. "Here," Henrick pointed to a part of the map known as Spring Field, " is where we need to get to. They have it mostly protected, some of our military units were informed of the disease before they could be taken over so that's where they're held up. If we can get there we can establish a bigger plan is and get help."
"So then how do we get there?" Asked Adrian.
"Well, that's the problem, we can stay on rout 64 since none of the cars work. But we will be easy to spot without our skin or eyes being blue. Doc's solution is that we dot our skin with blue and wear blue contacts, we should be able to blend in alright , and we can take the underground bus for most of it. We just can't get through the city without being above ground on foot, and there's a city right bye Spring Field."
"So you have all the supplies to do this?" I ask.
"Yes of course, but less than half of us are coming because most of us aren't trained or experienced."
"We're coming." Adrian demanded.
"Yes, yes of course you guys are coming. So is Doc and ten other people, we are leaving tomorrow morning at dawn. Once we get to Spring Field we can send help to come get the rest of our people."
"So y'all need to get plen'y of sleep, there's a tent you can stay in next door."
"Ok thank you, can we have our stuff back?" I ask.
"Oh yes,of course, you can grab it from the tent," he pulls out two packs from under the table, " oh, and here are your pack for tomorrow,I'll see you in the morning."
Me and Adrian nod as we stand up, we each take a back pack as we head out of the tent and go to the one we were once held captive in.
"So are you nervous about going to Spring Field?" Adrian asks.
"A little... You know, what would happen if they got us, would they turn us into one of them..."
"I don't know... Let's just hope that doesn't happen."
We grab our stuff off the table and head to our tent. We walk in and there's two "beds", they're really just mats with a sheet and a worn out pillow. I lay down onto the bed to the left as Adrian sits on the mat on the right, and sits down his backpack and lays down. "Night." he says.
"Night."
I simply reply back, closing my eyes. I drift off to sleep...
I abruptly wake up to the sound of loud footsteps and loud whispers. I shake Adrian awake, he opens his eyes and shoots up in his "bed" almost knocking me over. He quiets as I hover in the tent when we hear more murmurs and several footsteps. Before we can react We hear the alarmingly unmistakable sound of gunshots outside...
