Yellow and obscure.
Blue and famous.

No one would ever think these four adjectives would clash into something so passionate, so violent, yet so quaint and smooth.

In other words, the romance of Margarita "Peggy" Schuyler and Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette.

Let me introduce them to you.

Margarita Schuyler was a sarcastic young woman from a rich and noble family from Albany, New York. Her favorite color was canary yellow. A couple of things she enjoyed doing were calling out men on stupid choices, reading peculiar books found anywhere but in a library, trying to scrape out the bits of cream stuck in the bottoms of parfait cups, and dreaming of someone who would keep their attention on her as much as she deemed necessary. She was a lesser-known Broadway alto who was then performing as a swing in the musical Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 and having multiple gigs at 54 Below and other New York clubs.

Marie-Joseph, or Lafayette as he preferred to be called, was a wealthy French orphan whose father died in a war overseas and whose mother committed suicide. But he bled through it. His favorite color was a royal navy blue. A couple of things he enjoyed doing were tending to his plants, the odd smell after it rained, the smell of cinnamon buns in the oven, ridiculous and unrealistic fanfiction, and dreaming of someone who would pay less attention to him as he deemed necessary. He was a well-known rapper in the French group Lancelot, which was having their 'Casse-toi' US tour during the warm days of July.

This is their story of happiness, sadness, faith, and betrayal.
But love seemed to persist no matter the circumstances.
