She led me down a hallway that was actually pretty well lit for the building I was in. "Here you are," she said, leading me into a room that had rainbows and things all over the walls. 'Not my kind of room.. But ok,' I thought. I looked around and finally noticed Elli, sitting there curled up in a ball in the corner. I looked back at the girl, as if to say, 'Can I speak to her?' She nodded. I sat down beside Elli. I put my hand on her shoulder and brushed the dust off her. "Hi," I whispered softly. She jumped back. She looked up at me. She smiled when she saw my makeup and that filled me with all sorts of happiness. She giggled a bit. "Funny, huh?" I said. I looked back at the woman and gave her a thumbs up, meaning, 'I'll take her, just bring me the papers.' "Wanna come with me?" I asked her. She nodded. The lady led me to a room where I could sign the papers and leave. I sat there doing the paperwork while Elli sat underneath the desk. Sometimes I'd look down at her and smile. When we were done, I took her out to the car.
