It had been a week and a half since Rodrick's crazy party and so far, I hadn't heard of him being in trouble. I was actually surprised that him and Greg were getting away with it with Rowley around so often. He didn't exactly seem like the type of kid to hold a secret well. Somehow, surprisingly, he seemed like he was managing.

Now that I knew Jay was at Westmore High, I saw him everywhere. Not only was he in most of my classes, but he always seemed to try and sit near me or next to me in those classes. It was like he was either trying really hard to make it up to me, or was making sure I knew of his existence to annoy me. If Jay was the same as back when we were at our old school, I'd say the latter.

The strangest thing I found between Rodrick and Jay however is that Rodrick seemed to be jealous of him being around me. Like the Monday after the party, when Jay walked with me to my locker. It was much to my dismay, but Rodrick looked as though he was getting annoyed with him being around me, too. Well, at least we both didn't like him hanging around us.

The bell for the end of the day rang loud in the Chemistry classroom, signalling everyone to quickly pack up their belongings and move out of the classroom as quick as possible, even though it was only Wednesday.

I got out and joined the moving stampede with Rodrick before Jay could get a chance to talk to me. Rodrick made sure not to lose me by locking his fingers around my wrist while he guided us towards his van in the carpark. When we were away from the crowd, he let go and we walked together to his van. I was really glad that we both acted like the lip brush didn't happen, otherwise it would have definitely been awkward between us.

"Hey, I forgot to tell you this morning," Rodrick said as we both got in the van and he started it up, "Bill Walter. He's in the band!"

I raised my eyebrows and smiled, having no idea who he was talking about. "Great. Who is he?"

"Only the greatest rock guitarist in Plainview!" He scoffed, like I was supposed to know who he was talking about. I nodded as Rodrick pulled out of the carpark and started en route to his house. "He's gonna be practicing with us this afternoon, just thought you should know."

I smiled and nodded, turning my head to look out the window. "Thanks, I guess."

Soon enough, we pulled up in front of Rodrick's house and got out of the van. We walked in, but I was stopped by Susan. "Demi! So...I was thinking, we've seen a lot of you around and Frank and I would like to invite your family over for dinner tomorrow night!"

I opened my mouth, before smiling. "I'm sure they'd love to come. I'll let them know."

Susan gave me a warm smile of thanks, before letting me walk into the garage. Rodrick looked up at me, twirling his drumstick in his fingers. "What'd mom want?"

"To invite my family over for dinner tomorrow night," I smirked, taking my seat on the beach chair. "Look at you! Finally gonna meet my family."

Rodrick snorted, "Why do you say that like we're dating?"

"There's a way you can say it to make it seem like your dating?" I gasped sarcastically, "Yeah sure, why not. Make my dad hate me even more than he already does."

Rodrick chuckled as Ben and Chris came in. "Hey guys," I greeted, earning a wave in return. Not too late after them, the man from the DJ desk at the roller rink came in - the one who looked to be in his 30's with blonde shaggy hair. I smiled at him politely as he walked in, but he stopped abruptly.

"Woah," he said, looking slightly stunned as he saw me, "No one told me anyone was gonna be here, dude. Let a lone a chick."

"Oh, that's Demi. She's like our biggest fan." Rodrick said, and I looked over at him with an unamused expression.
