Bree Ellis has been branded insane by all of the citizens of Pleasant Oaks because of her special "ability" to feel the energies of those who have gone on before her. Shunned by the living, she feels odd comfort in graveyards. On the night of  a prank gone wrong, Bree is murdered and brought to the mercy of the Prince of Death himself, the Grim Reaper. But the Grim Reaper is taken aback by something that is inside of this girl. She's nothing like the others that have come before him to be escorted to the Counsel of the Afterlife. He feels her odd connection with death and despair. Instead of escorting Bree to the counsel, who he knows will banish her to an afterlife of torment because of her practices when she was alive, the Reaper breathes himself into Bree... making her in a sense... his.

At first, Bree is reluctant to use her newfound powers... the power to manipulate anyone's life and cause their eminent demise... the power to kill someone personally with little effort at all... the power to change her appearance and come in any shape, form, or fashion. But after being molded by the Reaper, killing becomes natural to her. The jolt of pleasure she gets after taking someone's life becomes fulfilling. She begins to crave death.

When Bree finds that she must return to her hometown, the place of her own death, to claim the lives of a few locals, she considers it a treat. Changing her physical appearance, she goes into the town, ready to place vengeance on those who mistreated her... though she remembers nothing about her death. When she meets Dallas, her murderer, she falls in love with him, only to realize that he is one of the souls that she must claim.

This fast- paced story of revenge, love, action, death, life, and restoration will have you on the edge of your seat, begging for more.
