I remember it as if it was just yesterday, though of course so much has happened since then, the day I was captured and brought to the coast to be traded as a slave. I wish I could go back to then and warn myself and everyone else in my tribe that the others were coming, and that we needed to flee before it was too late. If only I could. But of course I can’t, which is how I ended up in this miserable hell-hole, with nowhere to escape and nothing left to live for. I wish I could die, but of course, they deny me even that small mercy. What should I do god? If you really exist, help me! Save me! Rescue me from this place. Please. Please, please please……………save us.
Of course he wouldn’t, I knew he wouldn’t, he never does when we pray for help. Well, I guess I’ll put my life to some use and write down my story, so that everyone who I couldn’t save does not die forgotten. So that if I can somehow get this message out to others who can read, they can spread the word and stop the kidnappings, and save others from this pitiful excuse for a life. I hope that, someday, somewhere, we might be remembered and avenged.
O.K, here goes, I don’t really know how to start, but I guess I should start with introductions. My name is Jelani, which means full of strength. I wish that I could find that strength right now, I really need it. I am a 20 year-old male which means that I am worth just over $80. The price is not that bad, compared to some others, but it means that I have a quicker selling time. So I have to return to work more quickly, I don’t know why but I get re-sold a lot. Now I guess…on to my story. I hope you don’t mind but I’ll tell it how I remember it, so exactly what happened from my point of view.
Well that's all I've got for now. I think I'll probably put more up later. Oh and I'm just putting this story up because I had to write it for school in an assignment about the slave trade. Please tell me what you think.
By the way, does anyone know how to add pictures or video clips onto the chapters? O.K thanks
