She ran quickly as the rain started to fall from the sky. There she stopped under the overhanging roof of a shop near ABS CBN and tried to shake off most of the raindrops caught in her yellow summer umbrella. It was supposed to be a sunny day. There was no sign of the rain that morning and she was caught horribly off guard.
The beautiful woman tucked away stray strands of her dark hair behind her ears. Fortunately she managed to stay dry through her hurried trek.
Karylle sighed as she looked up in the raining sky. It was steady and looked like it was going to fall for a long time. Three-thirty her watch said.
It was also fortunate that she had two more hours to kill before the wedding. She would surely be scolded if she came home late and soaking wet.
The rain fell harder. It would probably be best to stay out of its way and wait for it to finish.
Karylle's eyes stared at the sheets of rain, catching each individual raindrop with her gaze. They shimmered, like diamonds, before falling helplessly to the ground.
Her long slender fingers clutched the handle of her umbrella tightly as she remembered why she was walking alone towards the carpark.
'Wala naman kasi yung driver ko'
The wedding, of course, was very much on her mind.
How could it not?
It is, afterall, hers.
Her eyes hardened as she recalled the past conversation with her father the week before.
"Kung mahal mo talaga si Yael...Masaya ka ba anak?" Modesto asked as he stared at his daughter, his princess. Her fingers had tightened together but her face was controlled, almost like a mask. He looked so hesitant.
"Masaya na po ako. Kontento na akong makasama si Yael sa buhay ko. He makes me feel secure that's why I...I love...I love him." she murmured.
"Sana hindi mangayari sa pagsasama niyo ang nangyari sa amin ng mommy mo. Sana di siya maging katulad ko. Sana talagang mamahalin ka niya, sana talagang mahal mo siya at hinding hindi ka magsisisi." He said sternly, but looked like he was about to cry.
'B-But what if-I don't love only him?' Karylle thought.
"Karylle, prinsesa ko, soon magiging Yuzon ka na at ang Tatlonghari as mapapalitan ng isa. Pero kahit anong mangyari prinsesa parin kita. I never regretted having a child kasama si Zsa Zsa kasi ikaw naman ang kinalabasan. I love you anak. Mahal na mahal ka ni Tatay." Modesto's voice softened as he reached out to touch her shoulder awkwardly
"D-Dad..."
"Ang lapit na ng wedding date niyo, ang lapit na ng birthday mo. Pero para sa akin you are still my little girl, still my princess" he said quietly
Karylle sighed as she remembered her father's emotional talk with her. It may not be that apparent but he was surely being enotional about letting Karylle go.
