Once upon a time an angel and a demon fell in love.
It did not end well.
The angel had fire in her eyes and a smile that would burn the world down.
She lit the darkness as she walked and flew,
sending the screams of wickedness where they belonged.
Until she found him.
The demon.
The only one who didn't balk from her light.
For this demon had shadows in his eyes and destruction in his smile that were so deep,
they swallowed her light in their darkness.
She found him not in his shadows but basking in the light she gave off.
And when he smiled she knew she was gone.
But that didn't scare her. They danced,
they battled,
they made love in the only way celestial beings can:
with the power to tear down the world.
But when it was done,
when the flames of their passion became a smolder and when he flinched from her light,
she had to leave.A millennia passed by and they were in the other's thoughts through it all.
So she laid down her sword
and forsook her wings
and destroyed the fire within.
But when she went to find her demon and her love,
he didn't run into her arms like she thought.
He smiled wide at the darkness in her eyes and the destruction that stained her smile.
And he knew yet again,
he had caused another angel to fall.
