Dear Diary,
I thought I should start keeping a diary because school's about to start and I'm going to be in Grade 5. This is it. My last year of elementary and I want to remember it. Mark, Lexi and Dan should be writing there's too. Maybe not. It was edging midnight and they needed their rest for tomorrow. I was too excited. I love meeting new people and making friends. Some call me bubb, but I just think I'm friendly. There was no one outside right now. No emergency vehicles, cars or even footsteps. Everything was still. But the stillness ends with a strange noise coming from her mom's room though, I sneakily open the door. Bottles of elixir were scattered everywhere. "That's why mom kinda mean and acting all weird," I said. Now that elixir that my mom was drinking was actually for some kids, so it couldn't be that bad. I sneak back into my room and went to bed.
School was great. Turns out no one had kept their promise to do their diary so now I'm sitting on the bus scribbling like an idiot. All of my teachers are cool and I think I made a ton of new friends. I jump off the bus at my stop and run up to the house. My mom was standing at the doorway and she was looking kinda green. "Mom, you okay?" I ask. "Grrrr grrrr brains brains," replies mom. I ran quickly outside. Pouring out of doorways all over the street were green faced, sluggish adults and children. It was like a zombie apocalypse.
