Part 6

"Is it true your dating a vampire?"

News travels around way too fast in this town.

"Yea but I didn't think people would care."

"Well they do care, all I'm saying is be careful."

"Gale, Josh isn't like other vampires he wouldn't hurt me."

She gave me another hug and a smile that didn't touch her eyes.

"You know I love you right?"she said.

"I know you're the best friend ever."

I put my stuff away in my locker and put on my apron because today was casual Friday. The day passed by quick, the same faces that you see all the time, no matter where in town you go.

"Paris come here let me talk to you."Howl said as I walked past his office.

"Hey Howl, what's up?"

"I just wanted to know how you're doing."

"Stop with the bull. If you're about to tell me who I shouldn't be dating then just drop it, I'm not 16 anymore."

He stayed silent for awhile until he let a breath out.

"I'm sorry I was out of place but I really did just want to know how you are."

"I'm fine Howl, honestly." I started walking away.

"Paris!" he yelled.

"Yea?"

"Do you want to go to lunch with me tomorrow?"

Howl is nice and all but he's my boss and did I mention he's old, he's like 31.

"um sure Howl."

Why can't I be mean and rude to people sometimes.

"Okay, be careful Paris. This place is dangerous."

Something in his voice when he said that last part made my skin crawl and the looks that he's been giving me lately have been creepy. I walk outside to my car and tried to open the door.

"Give me your money." A mysterious voice behind me said.

"Please I don't have any money. I promise I have nothing worth any value." I cried.

"I found something valuable." He said while reaching for my butt.

Memories brought me back to that terrible night when he came over.

"Paris I got you a gift for your birthday."He said.

"Where is it Michael?"

"It's in your room follow me."

"Your a pretty girl."The robber said pulling me back to earth.

I turned around to slap him but purple sparks started coming out of my finger tips. His eyes suddenly turned black and he grabbed my wrist to stop me.

"Él viene para ti y ni siquiera el diablo puede salvarte señorita."

Shit what happened to his eyes and why the hell is he speaking Spanish? He backed away from me and disappeared into the darkness. I know he said the devil can't save you but the other part I don't understand. I drove all the way home dazed by my new found powers and the terror that the stranger put on me.

"It happened didn't it?"

"Jesus Nana you scared me half to death and I don't know what you're talking about."I said lying through my teeth.

  "Don't play dumb with me little girl. Your powers kicked in today didn't they."

  "How do you know so much?"I questioned.

  "I can feel it baby."

Why did this have to happen to me, couldn't I just be a normal 22 year old. Nana told me that my emotions affect my powers and she helped me control certsin ones.

"Nana, I almost forgot, what does èl viene para ti y ni siquira el diablo puede salvarte mean? I figured out the second part but the first part isn't coming to me."

  "Oh dear, it's too early."

  "Can you tell me what it means please. I think I can handle me."

  "It means he's coming for you and not even the devil can save you. I have to prepare a protection spell, I gotta go baby."

     She got up hugged me and left. I locked the door and went to bed thinking about all the stuff that happened in this entire week. I woke up to someone licking my face .

    "Wake up you're gonna be late!"Sam said.

   "Uhh what time is it?"

   "8:30."

Reluctantly I got out of bed, showered, threw on some jeans and a white blouse and went downstairs.

   "Here you go Sam,"I said while pouring her food,"be good."

I headed to my car and drove to work. When I got in Gale was no where to be found, it was only Lisa and the new girl Elizabeth.

   "This is going to be a busy day." I said while heading to the back of to get my apron.

   "Hey Paris."

   "Good morning Neil."

   "Will it be the regular?"

   "No I think I'll try something different."

Neil is the type of guy that likes to keep things the same. He's not very big on change, which makes me curious on why he's trying something new.

   "Since when...never mind, what would you like?"

   "Can I have the egg and ham omelet with the blueberry pancakes and orange juice on the side."

  "Sure,coming right up."

After Neil left there were five more tables that I had to serve.

  "Paris are you ready?"Howl said.

I walk out of the locker room to see Howl standing in front of his office door.

   "Yes I'm ready I just had to get my bag."

  Howl drove me to this Chinese restaurant called WuChongs off of bergen street.

    "I have reservations for Howl McKnight."

    "Yes private lunch for two, right this way."the waitress said.

Howl knows I have a boyfriend, he wouldn't do anything,right? Oh gosh I hope he doesn't think this is a date.

   "I hope you don't mind but loud noise bother me, so I always get a private room."Howl explained.

Just as the waitress came to take our orders my phone rung.

  "Excuse me Howl, it's my Nana."I say while stepping out of the room.

  "Hello? Nana what's wrong?"

  "Oh gosh your safe." she said breathing a sign of relief.

  "Yes,why wouldn't I be?"

  "Something terrible is gonna happen to you if you don't come home now!"
